I'm not really an Apple person & someone asked me for a valuation on this machine.

Wondering if there someone that could give a ball park, please ? I assume 256GB SSD - but I need to check

  • iMac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019
  • 3Ghz 6 Core Intel i5
  • Radeon Pro 560X 4GB
  • 8GB 2667Mhz DDR4
I'm guessing between R12k and R18k

12K Max
Would be difficult finding a buyer though

Exact same spec selling at MacShack for R19k. Link

I'm sure they would pay a fraction of that tho.

Doubt you'll get a lot for any pre M* Mac. R14k at most if even that.
He's got a M something laptop and hoped he could use the larger screen / keyboard on this - but it seems that feature was removed.

So this is just sitting there & even R12k is better than nothing

At that point I'd be better off just buying a display + a NUC for the 12k and I'd have a better spec'd machine (with full warranty) + lower wattage.
But how would he be better off? He's already got a machine perfectly suited for running windows natively. Zero expenditure.

Sure, but @backstreetboy never specified self usage, just that you could.

My statement was if I purchased that just for that use case, that I'd be better off going another route etc.

Then why won't you leave the Apple threads alone??
I’ve never really been one for faking my feelings to make others feel great. And because of this honesty, I was made to leave.

Kinda like a gag order

Trollby. Only way to get his post count up.
I don’t think I’ve treated Apple any differently to any technology I’ve used. In other words I’m honest regardless of who makes it & have never felt the need to hide.

It’s only with Apple that you have to be really careful about what you say and kinda spin everything into a positive to please the owners.

Anyway thanks for the valuation

It’s an Intel.

You’d be very lucky to get 10k for it.

R5k-R6k if you want an easy sale.

I think it was only ever offered on the bigger iMacs never the baby ones.

Wasn’t removed as much as Displayport just could no longer support the resolution when they went 5K natively and when the port was dropped in favour of HDMI/USB-C it was never returned as a feature.

Universal Control pretty much took over this space even though it’s not quite the same thing it serves a similar underlying purpose.
