Well, we've seen that most Android flagship phones open apps quicker - but I guess the manufacturers could ditch some RAM and open at iPhone speeds ?
Or add some animations
I've always been a fan of real world tests myself... But I have noticed that most iPhone users prefer the benchmark or Tim Cooks quotes rather the real world.Speaking of which, I wonder if you turned on "Reduce Motion" on all those iOS devices if they would, in fact, trump the Androids.
As you rightly illustrate a lot of that "performance" that is supposedly lost on the iPhone is intentionally "lost" through animation for a better aesthetic experience.
Stupid paper values regardless that don't make much if any real-world difference.
Anyhow, back to your question - I've seen a Samsung Note 10 open a few intensive games around 3 seconds quicker than the new iPhone 11 Pro. 3 seconds is huge and I'm not sure if 'reduce motion' would help...
Yet, after using iOS 27 on an iPhone 11 Pro Max, I can’t help but think that older devices may be among the biggest beneficiaries of this update. The software feels faster. Animations are smoother. The phone runs cooler. And users still get a collection of useful new features despite missing out on AI.
For anyone worried that iOS 27 would leave older iPhones behind, the first beta suggests the opposite. Apple appears to have spent just as much time optimizing the experience for existing users as it did building features for future hardware, and that’s great news for people still holding onto a seven-year-old iPhone.
