Apple iPhone 17 thread

Anyone here using the iPhone Air? How's battery life been for you?
Battery life has been excellent for my use case. I’m not a power user, my average screen time is around 4 to 5 hours and my battery has never been below 50 percent. I charge once a day. I even had that MagSafe battery pack for the iPhone Air but i returned it cos no use for it.

The iPhone 17 was the best-selling smartphone globally in Q1 this year

The Apple iPhone 17 was the best-selling smartphone globally in Q1 this year, according to data from Counterpoint. It represented an impressive 6% of all smartphones sold during the quarter. Just like in Q1 2025, its pricier siblings round out the Top 3 – the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the iPhone 17 Pro.

This year, the vanilla iPhone has a bigger lead over its Pro siblings. And the old iPhone 16 is still on the chart – it holds the #6 spot.

Meanwhile, the best-selling Android phone of the first three months of 2026 is the Samsung Galaxy A07 4G – yes, a 4G model. This phone proved popular in emerging markets like the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. There’s another Samsung LTE phone in the Top 10, the Galaxy A17 4G. Both phones promise 6 major OS updates, which will give them greater longevity, though their old modems may hold them back in 2031.

For what it’s worth, the 5G Galaxy A17 placed higher on the chart. The chart also highlights the importance of the A50 and A30 series with the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 placing #7 and #8, respectively.

Hey guys, why are my iPhones showing that there is no charge but when I reset it tells me there’s a full charge.

I had this issue with my IPhone 11 and 15 as well, is there an issue with the os ?

So my phone has been on charge for 40 mins and hasn’t moved, reset and then it’s full.

Tried recalibrating the battery?

Sounds like an OS bug.

Decided to load iOS 27 Public Beta on my 17 Pro Max today as I will be spending the weekend mostly indoors at home, so figured this will keep me busy while 2nd screening binge watching series and movies.

So far I am blown away at how ridiculously smooth and fast it is, feels overall more polished than iOS 26.5, I’m truly impressed.
I’ve already activated the new Siri and it is working brilliantly, this is what Siri was meant to evolve into like 5 years ago, lol!

Battery life is too early to tell especially because the phone is indexing but so far not bad, it should only get better from here, will ensure it charges overnight as indexing is done faster while the device is plugged in.

Will take a drive tomorrow to see how Apple CarPlay in iOS 27 gets along with BMW iDrive now, lately on iOS 26.5.2 it was working absolutely flawlessly, best I had seen in the last 2 years, I hope that hasn’t been broken, but overall I am pleasantly surprised.

Updated to iOS 26.6 on my 17. Noticed an improvement in speed compared with 26.5.2. Will monitor battery life as that definitely took a hit with 26.5.2.

Yep, apparently in some ways 26.6 is meant to prepare the devices for iOS 27…

New rumor tells us all about Apple's imminent iPhone price hike

According to a new rumor from a tipster on X, Apple will be raising prices for all existing iPhone models, as well as those launching next month, by $100. The same source also seems to imply that Apple's launch event for the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra will be held on September 8. That is a Tuesday and Apple has in the past held events on Tuesdays, so it's definitely not out of the question.

We all know an iPhone price hike is coming. In late June, Apple increased the prices of all of its products except for iPhones. This is the next logical step, and a $100 bump for the entire portfolio may very well be what Apple is planning. That would at least keep things simple.

We have recently heard that the iPhone 18 Pro's bill of materials has gone up by about 40% compared to its predecessor, and of course all of this is due to the chip shortage and subsequent component cost increases (especially DRAM and NAND).
