So from some research I have done, there seems to be a grounding issue with the MacBook. I'm no electrician but it doesn't seem like it's much of an issue, more of an irritation that anything else. I use wired headphones and it seem to affect my meetings as people have complained about there being a static sound coming from my mic.

I have reached out to iStore, they seem blissfully unaware of the issue and have advised me to bring the mac in, which I'm not prepared to do, especially if it's going to waste my time.

Can anyone please advise me as to what to do?

Do you use a 3 pin extension cable or the 2 pin duckhead?

have you double checked that the mic being used for meetings is the built in MacBook mic and not the headphones?

have had many weird situations in meets in these pandemic times, bluetooth headsets especially, but even wired

another wonderfully weird and f-ing irritating one is if you use both Zoom and Google Meets / MS Teams interchangeably ... Zoom f-ing LOVES to mess around with your default audio device settings, often when you switch to something else after a Zoom call your audio is messed up until you manually fix settings again
