Yes, they are. However Cloud is a strategic technology for intercepting your data and analyzing you behaviour. For marketting or spying, whatever. Sharing stats is not enough, so they want more. They will share all your data too.

Ever notice the price tag of a ipad/iphone/mac? It's not free and that's how you're paying for the small amount of cloud storage that's included… not by them selling their users data to their biggest competitors.
