Can anyone recommend an interactive stylus for the iPad Pro?

I'm considering the Pencil however at 2k it seems pricey in comparison to other devices

Yup the Apple Pencil is hundreds, no regrets. Get it!

Bumping this thread up for 2021.

Thinking of getting a Gen 1 Pencil for my iPad 8 but I'm not inclined to the artistic & sketching life.

Anyone out there using the Pencil (Gen 1 or 2)? What purpose do you use it for, does it add value to your workflow etc

My kids do. They don't have workflows.

Doubt you’ll have any use for it if you don’t have some kind of artistic inclination. I use it for drawing and photo editing. It’s useful for note taking but I couldn’t justify the price just for that..

I use it almost exclusively for photo retouching and sketching. They've improved iOS for iPad so you can actually hand write directly wherever you see a text input but I still prefer just using the pencil to swipe type on the on-screen keyboard. But there is still something satisfying about navigating with the pencil. For some reason I always use my windows laptop and pen for filling in and signing paperwork. Windows ink somehow still wins for getting that mundane chore done. But using the pen for navigation with Windows is annoying.

Workflow for photography includes lightroom on my mac with cloud connected to my ipad. Pencil is used for photo editing. Excellent for retouching.

Then, next up is note taking and quick sketches for UX work. Again excellent.

I added a paper like screen cover to my ipad for a more realistic feel. Can i say excellent again?

I use it for my studies. I open a split screen with a PDF on one side and notability on the other. I can highlight sections of the pdf and then make notes referencing the pdf on the notes side. This saves me having to lug note books / text books and all my work is saved via cloud.

Additionally, I am learning another language (or two) and I will open a YT vid and make notes on pronunciation or grammar rules in notability.

Overall it works quite well apart from my crabby hand writing.

strangely it doesnt have an apple flavour to it more plastic in taste

I'm new to apple products and the iPad. The split screen blew my mind. I mean I can do a split screen on my android phone, only with specific apps, but the way the iPad combines the two apps into a single screen, when minimised and returned to, is fantastic.

Is this the same one they sell here at the iStore?
Seems like the branding has changed from when I got mine, but yes, I think it's the same. Seems they also come in packs of two now... I only got one in a pack a year or so ago.
