Apple sued over lost data

mm all your eggs in one basket......

Something about this screams "My 3 year old device is out of warranty and is now broken, hmmm, what shall I do, mmmm, sue someone!"

A Time Capsule should come with an unlimited warranty as far as data recovery goes. If the device fails for any reason Apple should fully revover the data at their expense.
IMO the Time Capsule name, and its use in other spheres, implies a warranty of a few centuries.

Why should Apple provide an unlimited warranty on an item that contains a Hard Drive which has a 3yr warranty more than likely?

It is not enterprise class equipment, it is consumer grade equipment and relying on it solely for ones backup is a stupid move.

If it doesn't simply won't turn on, surely it's something small ... ?

I don't care what is inside. The use of 'Time Capsule' gives the impression that it is for longterm storage far beyond the usual warranties.

HA HA HA HA HA!
Next we're going to read about someone suing Seagate because "hard drive" implies that it can withstand a fall from a 12 story building. No, he's not going to come right in suing apple because his external HDD failed and he had no clue it wasn't working.

Time capsule gives the impression that he should have filled it with useless crud, buried it in his back yard for a hundred years and let his ancestors moan about it then.

:wtf: Don't the Apple boys say that they go Apple because: "It just work"

I agree with anyone saying that the name is a little misleading...

Another one who thinks apple are indestructible, how weird.

And there really is magic in Apple's™ Magic[SUP]®[/SUP] Mouse... and the Retina[SUP]®[/SUP] display is made from real eyes.

What about FireWire and Thunderbolt ports ? There should be warnings !!

/sigh

It would be cheaper for Apple to use an expensive drive recovery service, than go to court over the matter. Though I can't see this even getting anywhere close or Apple remotely entertaining this guy.
