Is anyone else experience buffering on Apple TV and Afrihost? 20 mins in the quality goes to 480p then just stops, I have to go make a cup of team and restart the film before it works again. I'm using ATV4K, 100Mbps line with full signal to the mesh router. Speedtest shows a solid 90Mbps and none of my other devices or streaming apps have this issue. I can only think its an ISP / CDN issue with Apple. Last occurred 29 April watching a rented movie

It seems to be a CDN issue with Akamai, I have the same issue on Home-Connect, from what I've heard its an over load on there local PoP and then get served out of the UK PoP for Apple TV even on there big hitters, but I am open to correction.

EDIT - Seems to be a wide problem just looking around.

I can't say much as we are under an NDA but we were approached to deploy on-net Apple caches. In the next couple of weeks, all related issues should be resolved.

More public info regarding this is available at https://cache.edge.apple/

Same issue here, Apple TV 4K shows degenerate then buffer after 10 or so minutes. Using Afrihost over Openserve fibre. Speedtest typically over 200mbps, using a direct Ethernet connection (no Wi-Fi). Glad the problem is acknowledged and being attended to.

Same here. Using a Cool Ideas 1Gbps line and watching a movie or series on Apple TV is like having my teeth pulled with a brick.

But at work on a 200mbps line it works perfectly from the same Apple TV device I took there to test.

Come to think about it, I could not understand why Ted was buffering the other day.
Thanks for solving the mystery

Hi @AfriNatic. Please inform the community when this cache is commissioned as Apple's services have really declined in speed over the last few weeks. Thanks

It will take about 3 weeks for the machine to arrive from the US.

You shouldn't be experiencing any buffering issues currently though.

Has it arrived!!?? :) Just wondering.
It's been 3 weeks and I have not yet watched a show that has not buffered multiple times.
Update appreciated if you have one.

Just throwing my hat in the ring on this. I'm getting constant buffering in the evening on Apple TV. On 250mbps FrogFoot.

Same here tonight. Cape Town, on Vox, Octotel fibre. Hasn’t improved over the past month when streaming movies.

Haha no response.

Getting more and more people complaining about this @Afrihost-Gian. But seems to be on some ISPs and not others. In our personal experience, it used to be a massive problem one or two months ago, but much improved nowadays.

Yup I'm in WC and get this happening all the time - drives me insane.
I'm on Vumatel with MindTheSpeed.

Apple and Disney buffer like mad, Netfix/Youtube doesn't - WHY!!!

Even on iPad this happens and continiusly on a updated LG TV. On WIFI to fibre which is constant and a good line. 6ms 25/25

Seems like he has been doing his noc duties as he hasn't been online since Tuesday maybe @Afrigirl can advise.

I'm currently on leave until the 19th. The machines are not here yet.

From the testing I have done in a browser all the traffic is from Akamai. For the people experiencing issues do you get buffering issues on the apps or browsers?

If you get a chance can you try a browser and see if it's still buffering?

We are still waiting for our machines to arrive but as mentioned traffic should be okay via Akamai.
