Apple TV ..now what

Ok .. so i got a apple tv ...now what ?

do I jailbreak it and put XBMC on it?
I can already stream all my movies to my tv through my PS3 .... what does apple tv bring to the mix?

Get yourself a VPN in the US, sign up for netflix, and enjoy. Otherwise it is almost useless.

yea, picked it up for R300 ... was cheaper than a cable from my ipad to the TV to watch video casts on the telly ... so said ..well lets try that.

Handbrake your movie collection and store it for streaming ...... buy US itunes vouchers and rent movies for 99c (works out cheaper than R10 for rental) if you have uncapped .... get used to youtube ... set it up as a funky Jukebox in you bar controlled by you ipad or iphone or just airplay music to it from said devices.... wait for new airplay applications and maybe even for it to become a gaming system if rumours are to be believed...... if all else fails I will take it off your hands for R250 I need one in my bedroom....

Ok.... so far I am enjoying it.

using it as a glorified airport express and , it is pretty kewl to stream my video casts from my ipad to the tv

would i spend more on the device ... NO ...

I would consider Jailbreaking it and see how XBMC performs on it. Even did it on my iPHone4, but it was obviously useless.

What cool features can you do for jailbreaking the apple TV? Can you watch movies for free ( just paying for you bandwidth ) like downloading paid applications for the iPad or iPhone?

Where did you get it? Local or a "Fly in friend"..... Yes I think in SA it is basically a glorified iPhone / iPad "big screen viewer".

Does it actually allow you to SHOW your FULL iPad screen on the TV (would be nice for presentations) or is it just displaying APPS on the TV?
