Cloudgate Circle, Android Computer Optimized For Playing Media R 999

Which would be best for streaming media over WIFI to a non SMART LCD TV ?

SO has an Apple iPhone 6 Plus, i'm still happy with my Samsung droids.. lol

Looking for a preferably cheap and easy way to stream media and access internet streaming, any advice ?

Personally I would go with the Cloudgate (over the Chromecast too) and install Kodi on it.

It gives you a ton of power, plus it can be used as a Upnp target, so you can stream to it from other devices.

Tx.

Was looking at that as well.

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player R 649

Bear in mind, that only casts from the Android or Apple device (On the Iphone, you will have to buy the PLEX app).

The Amazon Fire TV Stick, cost R150 more than the Chromecast, but does a whole lot more, apps are installed direct on the stick, no need for another device to cast from, PLEX app installed on the Amazon stick, and you sorted. Also, the Amazon instant prime also runs very nice on that stick. Considering cancelling my Netflix and instead keeping my prime subscription only.

and stream from PC via PLEX server ?

Only with Wifi and on the same network, so from a laptop or from a PC with a wifi adapter.

PC is connected via LAN/WIFI to router and Lounge SMART TV and PS4 connected via LAN/WIFI..
Room TV not connected as yet which is where i want to connect Chromecast/Cloudgate/Apple TV...

You can cancel out the Apple TV, I would personally go for the Cloudgate out of those three.

If your PC is connected to your Router via Wifi (not ethernet) thebyou should be ablw to cast from your PMS (PC) via the chromecast app on your Pc, but the schlep is, it takes some intervention, you have to physically be at the pc, click on the Cast to 'chromecast device name' and it will start casting. Whereas with the Amazon fire stick for example, the app is installed on the device, you run the app, choose your sever, and bobs your uncle... PC can even be via ethernet (best streaming results imo anyway).

I think both options are good. Although i do think, for now anyway, the apple tv is a great option for an all-round media player. iTunes sync's your devices for all your media content at home, and of course your netflix and Hulu if you have a VPN, like Unotelly.

Cloudgate, i think is awesome ! but it all depends on what you looking to use it for.. Personally, i think its main objective was to be used as a cheaper option for a personal computer, not really a media player. If this was the case, surely they would have brought it out with a remote ?

That being said, the droid developers will have this soon enough, if they have not already developed it.

You obviously need a US proxy to watch prime content in SA?

Anyone actually owned or used a Cloudgate Circle?

Yeah, thats right. I use Unotelly, not a Proxy though, its a DNS Service.
You get a DNS when you sign up, you change it either in your router settings, or directly on the player, this allows you to watch content from other countries.

They also have a Dynamo setting, where you can change your netflix region to whichever country you feel like watching from...

Very simple to use and set up.
