Why?
Value offering. Noones buying a MacBook Air M3 with 16GB and 512GB for the same price as a MacBook Pro M4 with 16GB and 512GB of storage. That doesn't mean the 8GB models are useless they're simply ensuring they sell older generation MacBooks by increasing the value offering and trying to avoid:
1) Air customers buying Pro
2) Air customers not buying any Air products until the new Air SKUs are released
3) Having a really cheap 8GB MacBook on their site that will divert attention from the new $1200+ price point - They'll push this stock into the big box stores and foreign markets where they're still selling like hotcakes. Hence why we can still by a MacBook Air M1 8GB/256GB new on Takealot.
You couldn't guess this in the first place? Hmm, I suppose that's why.
