Apple Watch thread

How does everyone find the heart rate tracking accuracy? Reviews are a mixed bag and if i get one I'd like to know it's fairly accurate for running and gym etc?

The (dozens) of reviews I have read confirm the following:
- Watch 2 is the same as Watch 1, which is on par with all other smartwatches with an optical HR sensor, but not as good as a bluetooth chest strap.
- Watch 2 should have better longevity for the sensor than Watch 0 and Watch 1, as only it has full ceramic back protection covering the sensor, and not composite materials which are apparently very scratch prone.

/fine for me.

Does it handle peaks and valleys well? Like interval training?

Who got a nike + today?

I sent my buddy on a mission around JHB to find a "platinum store" (core speak for: wealthy area with highest LSM) that might have one.

Told him I would have to unfriend him if the mission is a failure.

Sandton had a couple in when I was there on Thursday

Sandton city had on Friday am, they are very protective of disclosing how many so likely not very many and SOLD out already.

Not 100% convinced about the Nike+ straps, so normal sport band might still swing it.

Have a Tek88 milanese loop band to go with it - so the formal strap is sorted.

What's the quality of the Tek88 products like? Might get a different strap of theirs, given that the iStore range appears to be a bit limited, in ZA at least.

Got the last Nike+ 42mm in black / black at Incredible Sandton City...

They have a few of the Nike+ Green / Volt ones left, and a few normal black sport bands and silver etc.

iStore Sandton Drive and Sandton City: nothing.

To my OCD (or is that CDO) eyes, the quality appears fantastic. Will only know over time though ...

Thanks. Takealot stocks quite a few options, will no doubt give it a go.

Was set on Aluminum Silver, but the Spacegrey/black Aluminum looks pretty sweet. Bit more limiting i.t.o. band options, with the silver buckle, but I think I'm probably going to go black >> 42 Aluminum Black with black nylon strap. Prefer it to the silver/pearl option, having stared at the demo models now.

Don't like the feel of the sports bands. That said: Hear the nylon strap can get unpleasant/in need of a clean if you sweat in it a lot, so will consider getting the Black Sport combo, and then buy a second strap for when I'm not swimming/running etc, for everyday use.

But ja, bit of a moot point - will want to have all of them in my hands before making a call, and at the rate the Core is bringing them in... hopefully before Xmas!

Same decision process I followed.

Have heard the nylon bands dont dry easily and are not good with sweat / water and some reports of "fraying".

So I wanted something for swimming laps and running with, then the milanese when something smarter is needed.

Worst product launch ever from Core, and why IC has so many in stock versus their own brand stores, who knows.

Any news when the next batch of Series 2 watches is expected? Core seems to be unable or unwilling to provide any info.
