dudes

got off the line with an IT guy said that apple AP is the only router or access point that is or can use wireless N ?? is this true ??

thought linksys or netgear wear equipt for this ??

Don't think the standard has been ratified yet? So you may find you can only use gear from the same manufacturer.

Nope Netgear has wireless N routers and so do many notebooks including my one year old Toshiba with WirelessN Draft.

he said APPLE hold the rights to wireless N ??
Wireless N, or more formally 802.11n, is a draft standard defined by the IEEE. There was a patent dispute for one of the components of wireless N - the patent is held by the CSIRO, not Apple.

Can't the losers just resolve the issue already? DraftN vs a different N if it comes to that will be a ball ache, and for what?

so what would i look for if i wanted a modem/router with 802.11n ??

In my line of business (computer retail), whenever we hear someone talk about "their IT guy" we all laugh.

He is talking kaaaaaaaaaaak.
