Apple working on touchscreen MacBook Pro - Bloomberg

Watch how they artificially block obvious functionality in order to protect their iPad business.

I spend enough time removing fingerprint smudges from my non-touch screen mac so.... I'm a gonna pass.

Hey! Pass me your macbook.

As a Windows user, this surprises me that they haven't done it yet...

I doubt this. They've previously been very adamant about keeping the product line separate, like anything from him, take it with a grain of salt. In any event, if they wanted to do this they can just make macOS run perfectly on the iPad, or 'merge' iPadOS and macOS, that would certainly cannibalise MacBook sales, but it would be very awesome. They're in the perfect position to do this, as both the hardware and software architectures are compatible.

Why though, an iPad Pro with an M chip is so powerful, just get the official keyboard if you want a laptop like experience.

Also I have yet to see the use case for touchscreen laptops, I had one and it was a total gimmick, it’s too awkward and slow reaching over your keyboard to touch the screen when the keyboard, touch pad or mouse is right there and waaay faster and more convenient.

Touch screens on laptops are about as useful as 3d tv's. Just marketing.
Depends on what you do on it.

The 2in1 format where it turns into a tablet is very good dor use on a couch or airplane. Especially if it comes with a stylus for drawing or writing.

As with anything Apple, they're not late to the party but rather will release an absolutely amazing version of the functionality that is perfected.

Separate product lines was strongly steve jobs era approach, he preferred separate devices good at specific tasks like ipod for music, iphone for phone calls and messages, ipad for larger consumer media consumption (at the time reading with e-readers was a big thing), macbook for consumer computing, macbook pro for prosumer/professionals, etc. Obviously technology has improved to allow devices to become all in one machines to cover all these tasks, but at the time it made sense.

Well done you are part of the 0.0001% that use a touch screen laptop as it should be used!
Noddy badge and Gold star heading your way and hopefully Apple realises this vast untapped market and grabs this opportunity for more obscene profits

No thanks. You also get those idiots using pencils to try and draw on your computer screen to point out something. I almost smacked someone at work for that

They've run out of things to do. How about working on a way to bring the price down or adding 20 USB-C ports or something.

No thanks, they're just adding stuff and removing it and adding it again.
So many people rushed for the new MBP because it has an HDMI port again, Apple is genius

spot on by default I turn it off if it has it.

It isn't for you. It is so Apple can charge you $100 more for the computer.
