Apple's iPad mini event - 23/10/2012

Over Steve Job's dead body will Apple ever make a tablet smaller than 10"!

Oh wait...

:p

Under specced and over priced. Typical Apple. Going for that expensive is better and cooler crowd.....

That and your comment about the build quality have erased any thoughts of me buying the Nexus!!

You let 1 person's view make you not buy things, wow you are easy to manipulate. It normally takes me a host of reviews to mark caution and hands on experience to totally sway.

After all everybody has some kind of bias, including online reviews.

Edit:
Example here is a Comparison from a Android site http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...-nexus-7-a-showdown-of-miniature-proportions/
And then a iOS site http://gizmodo.com/5954256/ipad-mini-or-nexus-7

Just because I don't like it that doesn't mean you wont. If you have the ability to try one for yourself first.
What were you trying to do that makes you so negative about the performance ?
Simply swiping from one screen of icons to the next usually takes several attempts and it's frustrating.

FWIW mine is a 8gb model.

Agreed that everyone has some form of bias.Been keeping an eye on the nexus thread in MYBB and there have been a few comments there too on build quality.
The Nexus would be pure indulgence as already have a new iPad.

UK Apple store prices:

iPad mini 16GB + wifi = ÂŁ269 (+-R3760)

iPad mini 16GB + wifi + cellular = ÂŁ369 (+-R5160)
 Guess I'll remain Appleless... Unless I win one that is. nudge nudge, wink wink :p

On a sidenote I'm loving the Nexus7, I'll still choose this over an iPad Mini. iPad4 now that's a different story...

But all in all I think it's fair to say Apple killed it with this event. We were only expecting a new iPad Mini reveal, which is why I didn't stay in to watch it, but it turned out to be a snowballing of a ton of new products and some really superb refreshes on their lineups. I am getting a feeling that Apple's 'leaks' these days are a bit strategic; notice how NOTHING about the new iMac was revealed so it was a total bombshell; but the iPad Mini was a more or less known quantity. This is unquestionably a company at the absolute pinnacle of their game right now though.

OK, well I have not had that experience.

From your comment I just assumed that you were doing some serious gaming or processing photos, or something like that.

Also, my hardware is fine, I get the impression that some of the first sales have had that problem with the glass.

I do believe that you need more memory on these things, at least 32GB, especially as they don't have the microSD slot. I may give my 16GB model away to some kid for XMas.

Still a week left before they miss their deadline.

That's possibly the single most important software update in the history of Apple!!

Okay, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic especially in the age of wireless and cloud syncing but think about it, it used to be mandatory with every iDevice.

Surely that might make it the most installed app outside of maybe Windows and Office?
