Application Service Maker - Run any program as a service

It says:
Attempting to start application: OpenNMS (C:\Program Files\OpenNMS\bin\opennms.exe)

It doesn't stop or give an error after this though?

It would have given a success message thereafter had it started the app properly.

I've done some quick research and it looks like you can specify a batch file as the program to run in ASM. So I've uploaded the updated config file here: https://app.box.com/s/n95pxfrr546vbj88yj8h (will run the batch file, I'm assuming it's in the same directory as your exe file?).

Otherwise I'll have to test some batch files tonight at home if it doesn't work so test this and let me know?

You see the problem is you can't just launch the Batch. You have to run it with the command "start". If you just launch it, it doesn't work. It just opens and closes. Otherwise it would be a piece of cake and I wouldn't need the exe.

This is the problem. The exe launches (it's just a batch any case) that launches the other batch with a start command. So it's two batches at the end of the day.

Ah, I see... maybe this config will work: https://app.box.com/s/n633gzv8mgi2rgx6m8tk

It still tries to launch the bat file but this time it's being sent that "start" as an argument. I think it will work this time.

Thanks for the help Man, but it's still not working. I gave it a few minutes to test, but no go. I double checked everything, no errors in Event viewer, everything is in order. I still think it's to do with the cmd.exe that it can't be made a service or something.

Damn. I'll have to do some testing tonight when I get home. I'm pretty sure I can find a way to make it work. I'll even install OpenNMS if I have to :D.

I appreciate the effort Bro :) Damn cmd prompt :p

OK Tera, I installed OpenNMS and I managed to get it to play nice with ASM with the following config file:

https://app.box.com/s/b4od71j14364o5lrd7j7

Please test this out when you have time, it's working nicely on my machine.

Still no joy Bro.

I even reinstalled ASM today out of frustration and I have no idea what to do anymore.

I'm running this on my Work PC on a Server 2012 Domain environment. I've installed ASM with a Domain User, domain\username password.

The Event Viewer seems fine, but I still can't launch Opennms from the Browser. I've noticed when I copy the Config file across it gets "blocked" and I have to right click and unblock it. I don't know if this has anything to do with it.

I'm getting a bit annoyed with myself now

Edit: reinstalled again and copied the contents of the config file across to the new install config with no change as well. So it's not the block issue either.

That is very strange... Can you see java.exe starting shortly after starting ASM with about 500MB RAM usage? That would be OpenNMS.

Can you post all the event log entries that are posted after starting ASM?
