Buz whilst you may be frustrated, it is no reason to attack the people on this forum, we are all here to try and assist each other as best as possible. I have also experienced constant problems with my 3G and HSDPA and the forumites have only done their best to try and assist me. V3G is great and whilst we all like to think that we are the only people contacting him with our problems, we are not and I am sure he is inundated with problems and requests, so if he does not do something for you immediately lets show him a little patience, he does come through for us all as soon as he possibly can.

Regarding my disconnects, last night at home, Sandringham JHB, I had no disconnects, so perhaps the 3G / HSDPA network in Sandton and CT CBD are just not coping with the load?
A very last post from me on that matter:

Point taken, I may have been to harsh, but I wonder why a comment like the non-technical one goes through uncommented ... Obviously this forum is about helping each other and not lashing out or comming in with an attitude; But this goes for everyone, isn't it ??

Irrespective of that: apologies if anyone feels offended.

Before starting to "moan" as one of you called it I went through all of the steps that one would go through before getting to that stage. They were just unfortunately unsuccessful.

Fortunately 3G is now taking care, so I have hope that the problem (which may be related to George and vicinity) may be resolved soon.

Greetings,

BuZ.

Lately I'm geting very bad throughput from MoreletaPark, Pretoria.
I am using the new HSDPA Gard. I'm sure i am geting HSDPA as i am geting 3 blue flashes.
I did phone 082155, but after holding for 20 min. I gave up.

Here is my speed test:
Download time: 70.09 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 58.2 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 7.1 (kiloBytes/second)

I too have been having wierd speeds on my HSDPA connection. Some of the time it sits at 56k speeds and some of the time at max 1.6mbps. I have reported it to V3G. Whatever it is, I am being patient and hopefully the problem sorts itself out. :)

Problems with Vodacom 3G

I am running with a Novatel card under Suse 10.0 and didn't have problems for a long time (approx 6 months) in the last few weeks, I am having problems during the connecting phase where I just get a hang up from the modem - I am still trying to find out why

1) Error type (one of the above) : lost connectivity, having to reconnect
2) Description of error: loosing connectivity after a short period of inactivity (even less than 2 Minutes)
2) Your location (as accurate as possible): Strand, Greenways
3) The 3G cell number, first 5 digits, ex. 082-99x-xxxx : 0828910866
4) Your setup (data card type, SIM type): bluetooth, Nokia 6230
5) Your IP, DNS (do a ifconfig in a dos box): n/a
6) Your APN (internet, internetvpn):internet

I know that this is a known problem. V3G can you please have this fixed for this number please.

I think the powers that be should change this thread or a new one created where the same are asked for the Month of August.
In fact every month. This will give an idea as to how many people are experiencing problems and what the impact is from month to month, basically to determine if the network improves or whether problems are going away.

Vodacom3G? Any feedback?

This question might be answered already somewhere else, but I am too lazy to read it all now. Why cant Vodacom just fix this problem for all subscribers automatically? I had this issue fixed on my profile (...or whatever) a while back. My obvious assumtion is that Vodacom would just go ahead and fix this for everyone. Why wait till it happens?

Now let me have it. What am I missing?

Trust :)

We checked the number in question and the profile is correct. The profile update was done for everyone at the time we discovered the problem (with your help!), so this must be a different problem, although the symptoms are the same.

I'm going to pass it to the local support guys to investigate, but one question in the mean time; is it possible to test using a cable connection?

Next time I am going to this client it would be to install a Samsung ZV50 for her. I will try and test the cable connection on her Nokia 6230 though. Will provide feedback. Not at all sure when. Could be weeks.

Anyone know of any issues with ZV50, HSDPA and Bluetooth V2.0?

V3G,

Let me know if the techies find something in the mean time.
I must say that at the moment I trust Vodacom most of all.

Enjoy your Sunday!
