Someone registered a domain name that I would like!
I see on WhoIs.co.za that the renewal is flashing "Not Paid"
How can I aquire the domain name, without making the other party aware that I want it?
How long can they keep the domain name when it is unpaid?

If you read the uniforum terms it does have the process. Basically it works like this:
1. After a month of being unpaid, Uniforum will suspend the domain, this usually makes the domain owner wake up and pay because email and site wont work.
2. Depending on how long they have had the domain, it will move to the deletion queue and be deleted according to the deletion schedule as published.

You can try your luck and wait it out, but if it has just been marked as unpaid from the last billing run, you are looking at 3 months before you can get it, assuming the owner doesn't pay their R50.

Best bet is to contact the domain owner directly and offer to buy it from them - make them an offer, I do it often and often they go for it.

Happy hunting.

To answer your question, you can't acquire it without him either handing it over to you (domain transfer) or it being deleted by Uniform and becoming up for grabs again.
It's more or less a total of 6 months without paying before a domain gets deleted.

Is the domain in question in use by the current owner? IE: does he have a website up and running or use it for email? If so, he's more than likely keen on keeping it, if not, he may just let it get deleted.
