First step is always, upload invoice.
Then you will get an email later when you need to make payment, and the payment option will appear.
If there custom fees, there will be another payment option available for that layer if you already paid the shipping fee.

There is no duty when using an origin as a go-between.
In other words, one of my recent orders was from Poland. It went to the Aramex Germany origin. From there it went to the Slough UK origin. Only then did it go to Johannesburg. Germany and the UK did not charge duty as the item was not destined for their countries - it was a bonded parcel just passing through.
South African duty and VAT was charged in JHB as this is the final destination.
 
Does Ags charge a disembursment/clearance fee when duties are charged?

So is the cost they charge comprise the shipping weight + duties + disembursment fee?

Shipment weight is calculated and charged by Aramex. This you pay first.
Duties and VAT is charged by customs, going on the clearance documents submitted by the Aramex clearance agents. The clearance agents should use the invoice you submitted.
Aramex pay this duty and VAT and then charge you. They also charge you a R50 clearance fee.
 
Ok so the disembursment/clearance fee is R50 and is that still charged if the shipment value is below R550 and no duties are levied, as I have heard people mention is the case for lower value items?
 
If your item does not carry any duties then Aramex does not charge the customs fee. I bought a couple of stuff from gearbest like a gaming headset, gaming mouse, some quick charge 3.0 plugs and card plugs with cables and all was passed through customs without any charges.

Since that was Aramex and AGS is also Aramex I doubt they will charge the clearance fee if there is no duties. Someone else might have a better answer.

No clearance fee on low value shipments that do not attract duty.
Word of warning..
Don't take it as read that anything under R500 is duty free. If your shipment get spot-checked by customs even a $20 item gets duty.

I think this will apply when the hubs are the airport. Shipping with aliexpress the item usually comes with free postal airmail so that means it needs to pass through customs a incoming international mail just like in SA.

So after some googling I saw that China mainland to Hong Kong is all duty free no matter the value. So that would be a better option to ship the stuff to HK Aramex then AGS to sa from HK.
 
So Aramex SMS me to say they tried contacting me and I should email this guy my ID number. I did so, That was 5 days ago. How long does this process normally take before I get delivery? I'm in JHB.

The process at customs has changed a bit and they now take two to three days longer than previously. Just keep checking your package's status on the AGS website. Otherwise just contact them via Twitter - they respond very well. Be sure to send them your parcel tracking number.
 
Aramex work very well .For R99-00 to any place in SA.
I use it for my business of underfloor heating and thermostats deliveries.
I do not know if deliver international parcel ?

Aramex Express is different to Aramex Global Shopper (AGS).
AGS receives parcels only. Parcels get delivered to different AGS hubs (London, New York, Paris, Shanghai to name a few). These parcels then get sent to us in South Africa.
Aramex Express send out parcels as well as receive parcels. They are much faster but more expensive.
You can contact the Express at www.aramex.co.za.
Finally, the local Aramex shipments for R99 are through Postnet and Pick n Pay and are for deliveries in South Africa only.
Having said this - Postnet themselves do offer a courier service for sub-Saharan Africa.

Thanks, so it seems they simply do not respond to or acknowledge emails. They did receive my email, and when I called, suddenly they said what a co-incidence, they will send out my invoice today for payment. Useless service.
 
Just got my item sent with Aliexpress to Spain AGS location.

Very quick delivery actually strangely enough it was outsourced to UPS in a UPS Express envelope.
