Some pics of my arcade game I'm building.

This is the second one I've done so far, sold the first one a while ago.

I used MDF wood for the cabinet:

Started cutting out the sides:

Both sides done, used the router to get a perfect match:

And the result, LOTS of dust and this:

to be continued...

I look forward to see the progress of this project. what frontend are you thinking of using?

you gonna order controls and manually emulate them using a keyboard/controller board or just stick an x-arcade in there?

also, does one need to strip the TV? I've been thinking of building my own for years!

I ordered the joysticks and buttons from Ultimarc and the coin door from Happ. I bought the UltraStick 360, it connects via the usb port, so no other emulation hardware needed. You can also connect up to 8 buttons to each joystick. It's a bit more expensive than the rest, but definitely the best joystick currently available.

You can probably fit the tv inside without stripping it, but then the cabinet will end up a lot bigger. I stripped mine, saves a lot of space.

OMG that Hyperspin flippen rocks! Now I HAVE to have one!

How much would you charge for a arcade frame - no TV or PC included, just the wood built and put together?

PM me and we can work something out. :)

just a ballpark figure - are you in Gauteng?

(Putting it out there instead of PMing causes all other forumites to see, who might end up being interested too?)

what are you going to do with the top area there, since it is curved?

what sound are you going to use for this baby? I would put in a nice sub behind the coin slot, like those top of the range arcades had

The same as with any other arcade, adding a picture, the curved area doesn't make a difference to it.

The sub is actually a good idea. I was going to use the speakers from the tv, but for some reasons the sound is not working anymore. Don't think it's the speakers itself though, so might just connect it straight to the pc.

no i don't mean at the front marque(sp?) - I mean at the top - are you just going to put a flat piece of wood there to close it? because then you would have two "fins" sticking out on both sides
if it was cut straight at the top is would "seal" better wouldn't it? (I hope you understand what I mean....lol)

Oh that. I'm using cardboard at the back. There is a little bit sticking out, but it's not too big. It just looks better with a curve than a square cabinet.

Front part where the coin door fits:
