Are multi cylinder engines days numbered?

I have to agree that smaller turbo charged engines of today are more powerful and more economical than 5-cylinders or V6 engines. But they just cannot sound the same. I love the sound of engines that have more than 5-cylinders. The sound they make are just music to my ears. The day I must upgrade to a later model Kuga it can only be a 4-cylinder. Even if I go to other brands, it will be a 4-cylinder.
Am I crying alone?
 
Nothing as beautiful as the chatter from a turbo.
 
I have a feeling we are moving more in this (2:40) direction with artificial sound being pumped into the cabin
 
A sound of a car must match its performance. Alot of older Merica cars sound badass, but when you look at their real world performance, it can sometimes be laughable.

I like any engine if it has character. Be it a screaming group B 4cyl turbo, or a 325iS from 1992, or a Ferrari V8.... So yes, they on the way out, but I think most of the downsizing is limited to more every day cars, which is perfectly ok. THere's nothing special about a 320i 6 Cyl sound....

Its sad, but suits me perfectly. I actually have a reasonably powerful car that I can afford to maintain and use as a daily. yay progress. WHen I have too much money, a nice V8 AMG will be on the cards. Multi Cylinder engines will just me more exclusively for sport cars. Now if all the manufacturers can just learn from AMG how to make a turbo sound good

Yeah URUS is actually just a fancy VW :P Engine comes from the VW group.

Not a big fan of the Lambo Anus.
They should stick to what they are good at
 
You're going to cry a lot more when your car doesn't have any kind of explosion powered drivetrain.

Does it translate to motorbikes? I mean hardly davisons sound like the end of the world, but only have the same sort of puff as a 3 pot diesel bluemotion engine...
 
I have seen that a chip can take the kilowats from 147 to 177. That will be nice but I also read somewhere that the gear box might suffer premature failure. I wonder how true is that?

Drop your window on a quiet road, you should hear it at around 3000rpm. My Renault Clio 4 has a 898cc Turbo motor and at around 2000rpm I hear it faintly whistling, it sounds great, it lasts up until around 3500rpm.

It's all down to when your car hits peak torque.
