why is it everytime you say PC game you automatically think, nerd, WoW.... ?

I don't play WoW!

We have grown up beyond the Golden China / Mega Drive / Playstation and are now playing with Expensive toys - we've moved beyond TV Games.

Now, when your System has more than 4 different colors (Red, blue, green and yellow buttons), you know it's a toy.

Star Craft, Diablo, Crysis and so on are for the more mature, and a different kind of gamer than the Playstation/XBox crowd.

Let me explain:
Console is more of an Arcade System - Fun, easy and casual. Plug in and play!

PC is more for the guys blowing serious dough, for serious Equipment - throwing twice the amount you pay for your entire xbox, into maybe 1 component. now before you say that is a bad thing, i'll say now that we like to be able to control every different aspect of our Rig. We like to be able to choose between 93 different speakers, 63 different joypads, 33 different hard drives , etc, etc...

we don't wanna be limited by the choice between a 20GB, and a 120GB drive.....

Each to his own...

And even though my PC graphics card costs twice my Xbox360, I prefer the comfort of my couch with my HDTV and some of my mates over.

a real gamer doesnt care, as long as he can play!!! I got a laptop, 2 PC's one PS2 (finally chipped) and a PSP (M33) (all at home) & if I'm really desperate .... my cell!!!

Well said!!!

I have found that games designed for a console do not work when ported to a PC. In my experience, it's to do with the controls of a console that just don't work with a mouse and keyboard.

I will always prefer a PC, and probably never buy a console, but it's personal choice. I do like the fac that the games are cheaper for a PC, but not that they sometimes are released on a console first.

to be fair, what about a port from PC to console, like Doom, Quake, UT ?

And then there is the case of FPS that use a cover system i.e. RB6.
Must be awkward holding down a key to stay in cover and another to
zoom in.

I can't even imagine what that would look like :D

lmao @ "duck-zoom-strafing"

Typical game-play on Gear of War MP(Xbox Live)... *serious* :D
And without the requirement of dexterity in your ring and pinky fingers.

Just the other day I read about a girl who had seriously injured herself with a controller. She must have been doing the duck-zoom-strafing move... :D

fortunately such dexterity is easily acquired by copying the gangsta signs on old school mtv rap videos......

Seriousness though, most of the time, if i play an fps or strategy game, it needs a keyboard and mouse, else i might as well be running around with a limp and prayer....

Besides, the two biggest games i am waiting for, SC2 and diablo 3, should only be enjoyed on a pc

Differences between games usually depend on which versions the developers choose to release on the current gen consoles and pc ! an example would be Fallout 3 which is the exact game on the 360,ps3 and pc but then u get a game like fifa 09 which runs on a different game engine on the pc compared to the current gen console versions or other major differences can be when developers port games from previous gen consoles to the pc instead of the current gen versions e.g Iron man on the pc is a port of the ps2 version and not the 360/ps3 versions. or Ghost recon 2 on the pc is totally different from its console counterparts.

control wise most new pc games control exactly the same as their console versions due to the games for windows initiative which allows players to use the exact xbox 360 controlling system as used by the console counterparts.

Games that have been ported from PC to console aren't always that great. I have to agree with some game players. Playing a ported PC on a console does sometimes suck 'cause of the controls, graphics etc.

Being an old console and arcade gamer, console games should stay the way they are... console games. "Some" pc games should never be ported. For example, I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOVE Homeworld 2 on PC... but I'd never ever want it ported to console. It would suck so bad.

Pro's and cons for PC's and consoles.... there are too many to list. I've always had rivalry with my friends... which is better... consoles or PC's. MY personal opinion, I'll stick to consoles. Your running cost on a console in the long run is far less than that of a PC. As I always say, every one to their own opinion. As long as we respect each other! ;)
