Are they allowed to do this?

My issue may not be yours, nobody asked you specifically for your comment. If you dont wanna read it , move onto another thread..dont get personal because your comments about international markets have been debunked.

If you expect a lower level of service thats your perogative.

If you don't want peoples comment don't post on an open forum...

You are the one getting upset. You have had five guys tell you to just buy a plug and fit it on. Seriously, how long is that going to take? Or maybe you need one of us to show you how to do it?

You now have a three page thread of you whining about customer service and "what the real issue is". Seriously... put the plug on... or box it up and take it back to the shop. Stop wasting our time. If you don't like the plug take it back to the shop and ask them to fit one for you... or ask for you money back.

How hard is that?

Spare me your banter , don't waste your time and stop posting the same thing over and over. I want to see if other people agree this is bad service, clearly you don't and other don't as well, maybe you are right, point noted. Thanks ....can we not have other views?

The original post brought to question whether it's allowable - which it is

Sucks but then again,it ain't against the law. Mis/disinformation isn't nice but they cannot be held responsible for not telling you about it in any legal capacity unless they misadvertised by saying something like "Pack out of the box and play in South Africa" which would constitute misleading advertising.

The number1 rule when buying anything is Buyer Beware. If you sign off a slip/receipt/invoice that means you accept the item as is. It's upto you to ask the pertaining questions

Agreed,

it does suck though. I thought customer was king, not here for sure. I'll see if I cannot follow up on Ernstn's link to the allowable power cords.

sure, we noted your view in the first post. The thread is not closed, others can add their views. But yours has been noted, and you are not likely to change our views on the matter.

If you need someone to commiserate with you I suggest you contact your mother. She might give you a nice cuddle and say "there, there.. my boy... did those nasty sales people pull a fast one on you?" :D

Believe it or not it happens everywhere. The CEO of the company I work for is from the US and he says service there is as bad as anywhere. The only place you'll get really great service is Switzerland I reckon.

Bwahahahahahaha

I nearly pissed in my pants.. LOL

Lots of products that I buy come with UK plugs instead of our 3 prong plugs. Get over it.

I'm sure that kind of incest is exactly how you were conceived ...thanks for the insight :D

Looks like this is common practice, I was certainly unaware. Well at least I am now.

dude, who said anything about incest? is that what you have on the brain?

If you can't take a little bit of mild banter, then perhaps you shouldn't be on the internet? Just how old are you?

weak come back but..... sorry for that out of line comment, your view is the general view, looks like this is not just allowed but is common place, I certainly had no idea. Now I do and I know what to ask the next time.

It's not about come backs... if you want to get into a flame war we can do that somewhere else.

Ja, my advice is... inquire ahead next time if it is something that concerns you. If it is a physical retail shop then you can check the product itself before you buy, but with online retailers you will have to do a bit of extra homework.

so who decided that those things should be called prongs?

Yes their customer service is appalling but you're getting the monitor a good R300/R400 cheaper than of the other retailers. How much does a plug cost?

sigh

so much for trying to go off topic

mods please lock this stupid thread

It's a bit of a double post but I'd like some opinions on this.

I bought an LCD 2032GW from PC Zone (www.zones.co.za). Now apart from their service generally being paltry, I was unamused that it comes with a UK POWER SUPPLY

When I called to ask them about this "mistake", the salesman informed me that this is how they come shipped....what the heck! I told him well the least you could have done is informed the customers, to which he responded with the same quip, that is how they come shipped (it seems this is now a get out of jail card to them). When I asked for a swapout he refused. Then he told me to cut the firggen cord and buy a 3 prong and put it together myself.

Is it just me or is this unacceptable? The bare minimum is to inform the customer of that, surely we cannot be expecting an adapter that you cannot use without an international converted or diy! I'm unimpressed! What do you guys think?

Eish, standards seem to be dropping there of late .... I got a USB printer at Xmas and there was no USB cable in the box .... phoned and they told me the same thing about how "it's shipped like that". Not amused. See if there is some sort of false advertising route somehow.

BLAH BLAH BLAH :D its freaking plug cut the thing off put new plug on it and be done. The time you spent writing this complaint you coud've been using the thing.:D
