Are they allowed to do this?

Exactly, people are missing the difference between the ability to do something and the necessity thereof. Might as well go to a clothing store and ask for a reel of your favorite colour cotton and go home and be all macho and weave your shirt..... coz only whiners dont weave their own shirts :D

Nah... I'll leave the sewing to you! ;)

I think I'll disagree on this one.

It should be expected that the item you buy will be able to fulfill its function without having to purchase anything extra - and here I'm talking about power particularly.

If it's sold in South Africa it should be plug-in and go.

I very much doubt the Brits would accept electrical goods being sold in their shops that had round 3-pins.

Oh, you mean similar to when you buy items that still need batteries or when you get a 2 prong and don't a spare adapter.

The ability to change the plug is what sets men apart from the apes;)

Not at all. That is something quite different. Clearly.

Did the OP find an electrician yet to put the plug on for him?

.. or does he need one of these??? :D

Maybe if you read the posts instead of blindly arguing you would have read I have other plugs and the monitor is working fine.

I think Zenbaas was correct when he told you

For a clever guy you sure are a bit thickheaded on this one.
except you have made it manifestly clear your not a clever guy. Why don't you go find another plug to change since you have such a deep seated passion for changing plugs. At leas it will keep your fingers occupied and you can stop making pointless posts and showing your inability to debate maturely. grow up.

so you just went ahead and put a plug on yourself? Why didn't you send the product back to the supplier if it was such an issue for you? why make a four page thread of whining and crying and b!tching and moaning when you solved the problem long time ago? You made your point in the first post. It only looks like you are trying to find some other whiners to cry with you. Maturity? I'm not the one crying like a baby over a freaking plug! :D

You are easily confused aren't you. I think its clear whose the moaner on this thread

Update from PC Zone.

Trevor from PC Zone apologised for the inconvenience and is arranging a swap out. Next time I'm in the area I'll go change it. That's service becoming what it should be. But the world will still have people like Garyvdh to bring those levels down..... at least this was a win for the consumer.

Seriously guy, if you cannot understand it was a matter of principle then you are not worth having a discussion with.

Oh to clarify to your confused mind, I had about 5 of the required cables, I used one.... understand, or do you need pictures? I took the matter up because I felt its bad consumer service, which you don't seem to get. Plenty of others on this thread understood.

Bottom line, even though their service has not been great they came through on this one. +1 for PC Zone for recognising their fault.

Good to hear they are sorting you out.

Still, if we ever have to provide a service to certain people in this thread then we know exactly what levels they are expecting ;)

When I bought my P4 machine from ComX, the speakers came with a funny plug too. Not sure if was UK tho.
Also had to go get an adapter.

I suppose on a monitor tho it isn't a big deal cos the power cable is like a kettle plug and most people use the dual power point cable for their pc & monitor.

But I agree, they should have told before you made the purchase. Glad to see they sorting you out now :)

ahahaha! You are freaking kidding me??? You are going to drive all the way out there for a R10 plug??? ... and you already had some spare cables on hand???

I want you to do me a favour... when you go there to do the swap it out... when you walk out of the room, pause by the door to listen to what the guys in the customer service area say about you after you leave. ;)

Great to see some people get it. Thanks :)

OMG people will complain about anything just cut it and put a 3 prong on then have mummy change you diaper... geez! How long have you lived in SA? I have been doing that to clock radios; consoles; notebooks... frikkin kettles and toasters since before my sarcasm gland was fully active.

The only matter of principle here is the effect this idiotic drive out to wherever is going to have on your carbon footprint... 'service levels' PUH-LEEZE!

EDIT: just read the rest of the thread, guess what I posted has kinda been covered already but honestly reading the rest of it, pics and all took this from almost ruining my Friday to think that there are such sad people around to having a damn good laugh - ta chaps!
