Are we at "War" in SA?

If you think Libya is safer perhaps try living there.

To put things in perspective the Christchurch Earthquake death toll is currently at 166 or about 4 days worth of murders in SA.
Does that include sheep?

Most murders are domestic.

Read what "war" is. Yes, we have an unprofound violent crime / murder rate, but we are not at war.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War

In all wars, the group(s) experiencing the need to dominate other group(s) are unable and unwilling to accept or permit the possibility of a relationship of fundamental equality to exist between the groups who have opted for group violence (war).

Yep by YOUR definition we are at war then.

How does this definition describe South Africa in any way whatsoever?

I don't know about every else but that kinda sounds like SA to me...

I was thinking the exact same thing.

... The aspect of domination that is a precipitating factor in all wars, i.e. one group wishing to dominate another, is also often a precipitating factor in individual one-on-one violence outside of the context of war, i.e. one individual wishing to dominate another.

Shame, are you back again, or just still here?

The ANC are introducing laws to dominate the remaining minority "elite" as they want to get their own version of "equality" enforced to ensure no member of the minority group succeed in future. Read the "current news". Now that definition of war given as highlighted strikes on both counts as describing the current SA situation well. Add to it the Malema song taken to heart by some criminals and the extreme violence perpetrated by the some criminals (ANC soldiers?) against a certain minority group then Yeah, maybe we are at war with ourselves. Looking at our countries death toll due to murder and crime then the OP's question do strike a nerve.

What do you mean? Am I supposed to be ashamed to be on mbb forums? wtf?

The definition said: In all wars, the group(s) experiencing the need to dominate other group(s) are unable and unwilling to accept or permit the possibility of a relationship of fundamental equality to exist between the groups who have opted for group violence (war).

So which group has opted for group violence and against which other group?
Considering that your "certain minority group" (just say white people) are the group least likely to be effected by violence in SA.
Are all citizens allowed to vote and elect the government? That doesn't happen in war. I understand that whites are unable and unwilling to accept or permit the possibility of a relationship of fundamental equality to exist between the groups, but they haven't opted for violence against another group either, so no, it's not war.

I didn't, I was responding to MegasXLR. That's my point, everyone is affected by violence, it's not one group against another as MegasXLR was trying to argue.
And please keep your personal insults to yourself it makes you appear weak.
And try read the whole thread, not just a snippet of a single post.

Yes, we are all affected by violence currently NOT IN WAR.
The moment you are in war,
For example: those who are playing bad company 2 you’ll see war.
It can get crazy in there. LOL
Another thing in war there are no race involved everybody is making a stand in what they believe is good for them.

GEEZ, Uptight much sonyboy, neurotic much lately. The fact is more people die in this country than countries that are really at war or who are experiencing civil war. I extracted those particular two pieces from that given definition in jest as it seems to rather describe the current political situation well. Unfortunately your over biased neurons kicked into action and you read something completely different into it. Must be true what some members say on MyBB , about inferiority complexes and neurotic syndromes.

PS: Yes we are all effected by violence but it's clear in certain cases as in the case of extreme violence against farmers and during other violent crimes as happened and still are happening (See thread on burned garage owner) in South Africa where the criminals themselves made specific remarks to support the case, can you furnish details of the same extreme violence perpetrated against others? If so start another thread and enlarge on the specifics.

There you go again with the insults. It's a last resort by people who have nothing to say.
Crime != War, it's that simple. We are not at war, we have a problem with crime. That's what this thread is about and that definition you quoted does not describe our current political situation in any way whatsover. And if you are going to say something in jest, then try make it funny; that's the point of jest, it's funny, not pathetic.

I asked you a question, if you see that as an insult then so be it. Not everyone is neurotic.

Please explain what this mean and tell me that there is no correlation with the current regimes attitude about formerly advantaged groups. :) (Funny enough, Hmm?)

In all wars, the group(s) experiencing the need to dominate other group(s) are unable and unwilling to accept or permit the possibility of a relationship of fundamental equality to exist between the groups who have opted for group violence (war).
:)

Only the group violence are the grey factor here and therefore the equating of that portion to the particular extreme violence as we see against a certain group :) (See that, Hmmm?) So yeah, maybe we are at "war" or rather it seems the ANC are still at war against a certain minority group by marginalizing them out of fear and considering Malemas words "for the revolution":) (See that?)
