"Are we intoxicated by the whine"

Are you honestly going to try pull the "you're not doing anything so why should I" excuse? But to state a few:

My family was actively involved against apartheid to the point that some could only return to SA in 1992.
I coached football and cricket at a local under-priveliged school.
I regularly volunteer at charity organisations and try to stay up to date with their happenings.
I attend CPF meetings and contribute towards the discussions. I even try to take action where necessary.
I too donate to charities.
I promote my country to tourists and often find myself hosting them or taking them out.
I also advise them on how to stay safe, instead of merely telling them they're in a sh|thole.
When hiring for positions within my companies, I don't abide by BEE because I have to, I actively recruit underprivileged people who I believe can do the job or will be able to with some guidance. I don't just train because I have to.
I make my employees (especially those without much) feel comfortable to talk to me - if there are issues, I help as and where I can. And no, I do not get taken advantage of.
I've been to township meetings where the leaders actually promote that you steal from your boss - they do it because they then come back and all share in the spoils. At first I was livid when I heard about it, but when I addressed the issue, I realised it was out of survival that they did this. Slowly they are learning to trust me and are learning that every time they do this, someone gets fired and someone else has to steal for them. Circular bullshyte that they are coming to realise will never emancipate them from their situation - only entrench it. (and yet it's supposedly the likes of yself who have our heads in the sand?)

I'm not trying to portray myself as some hero either, however I believe there are many things we (including me) could be doing more of to promote a happier and less crime-ridden country - yet we don't even give it two seconds of thought throughout the day. Yet we're quick to bitch and moan about things...

What really gets to me is that optimists are constantly told that we have no idea what's going on in our country, when in fact the opposite is probably true.

killa - you're the kinda guy who imo will never amount to anything in life. Sorry, but that's just my experience. People who are willing to make a change are the ones who usually achieve great things. For you, you might retire one day with a barely adequate pension/provident and feel you achieved something. For me, I'd be horrible disappointed if that were to happen - that's the attitude I have about my country too. I don't believe it's a bad thing, and to be honest all the mocking about it just makes me feel that your ilk are just plain jealous...

It's great you do all those "Things", but the bottom line is, that in a functional country you shouldn't HAVE to.

SA is disfunctional and frankly those with the opportunity to leave should.

Like I said if you want to insult someone stop being spineless and just do it. You kindly mentioned one year olds earlier, well you'd need to assume all readers on here are that age if they could not see who that was aimed at. A bit like me referring to the "one cell creature" (to borrow your pathetic excuse for an insult) saying "if you want to say so, it is your freedom but I NEVER said that" and expecting you not to realise who I am talking to

Before worrying about educating the voters, could you please educate yourself on the proper use of the English language first.

could you please educate yourself too ............ :D

ooops ............ sorry ........ /* deleted */ ( In our society, we are not allowed to call a monkey "monkey" ..... :D)

woohoo! go DJ :) i had no idea anybody could do so much, thanks dude :D

Lance you can label me racist, i am not racist at all. I could not less what colour or race a person is just that they are decent. I have become more and more angry with the blacks i will not lie. I get angry because i love this country and i am watching it melt down while the black population refuse to see the light :(. If that makes me racist so be it. Yes i am separating colours here because it valid to my argument.

ah killa, you're not a bad dude oke :) i think we keep misinterpreting each other on these forums, because i know for certain that you and Lance would get angry at the same things and that you're both decent guys. it's probably just different things that make us angry, like perhaps you get angry at the people messing up the country and Lance gets upset at the people sitting back and doing nothing, and i think you can both agree that both of these causes are to blame.

it's sad watching two guys that i like argue with insults. i just want you to both know i think you're both ace guys :)

Rainbow stories

Far away in a little country on the southern tip of Africa.
Around a cosy little fire all the many tribes have gathered.
We must put our differences aside they said.
We must be tolerant and together build a better future.

Everyone agreed, the feast was magnificent and everyone
went home happy and hopeful of the future.

Time passed.

The villages grew into towns. Many people from smaller villages moved to these towns.
The towns grew into cities, many more came for jobs, modern lifestyles.

Time passed.
The elders ran around trying to govern all these people. The elders favoured some people and made enemies of others. The elders were making a mess of the whole thing.

Time passed.
The cities grew and many flocked to the land of opportunity. The jobless and uneducated became criminals. Crime became the scourge that ate away at the souls of the people, the country, the region.

"Oh, our lot, our hardships" sang the choir.
"Release us from this suffering" lamented the people.
"Criminals rule" reported the media.
"Rainbow Blues" sang the choir.
"Our many troubles overtake us" lamented the people.
"People suffering under crime" reported the media.
"Justice has forsaken us and given us Julius" sang the choir.

Top village hits:
- Bring me my machinegun
- Kill the boer
- Ninja
- Jy dink jy is cooler as ekke
- Don't touch me on my studio

Adapt or die. Stay of leave. Do nothing. Hide. Increase security.
Whatever your choice of dealing with the reality that crime is a permanent part of our landscape.

Just remember.
Talking about how miserable it all is, does nothing to improve the situation.
Only pro-active defensive action can alleviate the emotional downturn caused by crime.

Survival Tips:
Watch your back at all times.
Trust no-one.
Smile more often, disarm your fellow villager :)

Just chatting, hi how are you today ?

It's great you do all those "Things", but the bottom line is, that in a functional country you shouldn't HAVE to.

SA is disfunctional and frankly those with the opportunity to leave should.

Obviously "Happily lost in the South Pacific" means that you no longer live in SA, right?

If that is the case, what is your interest in a South African board?

could you please educate yourself too ............ :D

So this is I_am_Penguin! What happened to your other profile? Did you get banned? No loss I'd say... if only you'd disappear in your new guise too. I don't mind arguing and I don't mind opposition but I prefer it to take place with some intelligence.

I concur, he does whine a lot

Oooh, there are more of them.... yay. If only they could argue properly we could have some fun times again today.

What I find most intriguing is you two are the types that sit waiting eagerly for the next bad news story to be posted so that you can hop onto the thread and whine and complain about how crap things are in this country. Ha ha. So your definition of whining is someone who opposes your view! O... K.....

I didn't say I oppose your view
I just agreed you whine a lot

and your last post proves this

man you such a chop, whats with the insults?

Ha ha ha ha.... there we go, like I said!

Dude, this thread was not about me. It was about the negativity in this country. A number of us were having fairly decent discussions in here. Yes, it got heated. Yes, it got a little insulting. But they were reasonable discussions. Then you have individuals that come on here after the fact and say things about certain individuals whining without adding anything to the actual topic. Those people are the true chops! A bit like seeing a fight, taking sides and then when the one person is not watching running in hitting them on the back of the head before running away again.
