My primary reason for staying with Dstv Easy view is for ITV networks (Islamic TV) & Al Jazeera English, which are my favourites & available at a minimal monthly subscription, latter being a very important criterion as we are in the middle of a financial drought.

Yes, DStv is something I'm quite familiar with and almost know everything about. I'm open minded to other things if convinced otherwise.

Yes, I'm on Compact Plus as I have no interest in Sport. But seeing that DSTV is cutting channels despite viewer outrage and has still not announced replacement channels a week before the A+E Channels' termination, I am seriously considering cancelling my subscription altogether. If my wants and likes are of no concern to the subscription broadcaster, then I will find somebody else - possibly among the streamers - who does care.

I am temporarily on Premium for the Rugby World cup. After we win (or lose), I will go back to Compact plus (my wife likes Kyknet.)
If I could find the programs she likes away from DSTV, I would be gone in a flash.
BTW, the carpet bombing of ads (especially outsurance) is not acceptable to people who pay for their subscription. One reason why I record, wait (or pause) before watching what I want to see.

For the price of a meal out for four you get a months worth of wide choice delivered to you (instead of having to find it), the ability to record to watch later, streaming if the choice still isn't enough, multiple simultaneous viewing, a company that supports (= finances) local talent (incl Afrikaans, which lets face it is not exactly a big market), employs local staff and underpins local sport. And pays SARS.
What I do not understand is why those who have switched to streaming are so desperate to trash DSTV - is it because they are trying to justify their decision to themselves??

One of life's greatest mysteries.

It has become a very trendy and thing to do. Like they think that just because they hate something so much that everyone must hate it as well.

They have Al Jazeera on YouTube

Compact with Xtraview (just under R500pm)
EPL for son and Home channels for wife.
News and doccies for me.
Sometimes Law and order and CSI series and the odd movie here and there.
Anything else, Netflix

I'm a keen motor racing fan and DSTV is the only source. I could however never since the inception of MTN justify the cost with my family. We watch too much nonsense anyway.
