Are you a Facebook victim?

... and how many of you have added your address and contact numbers, employment history, schooling info to facebook? mmm damn stupid of you if you have!

Other than that, I think the writer is full of it!
 
Don't know what the uproar is, your personal information is all over the place: previous jobs, banks, SARS, schools, colleges, high school yearbooks, etc. Facebook is hardly the only one.

That's what I have been saying all along. People whine and cry cos their privacy was violated. If you don't want your privacy violated then don't put your stuff on the internet.

My facebook is locked down tight through all the security settings. You will find more about me through Google than through Facebook.

But even then... there is nothing I have in Facebook that I don't mind the entire world seeing.
 
It really bugs me that they arbitrarily change the default behaviour to everyone opting in... that's bogus. Ask me first, then steal my info.
 
i`m more a google victim than a facebook victim... google knows my darkest desires while facebook only knows what I say in front of friends and family

don`t know what the fuss is anyway.... celebrity`s lives are under constant surveillance... i`m not all that interesting.
 
I REALLY don't mind whether Facebook or Google trackes me. I simply can't care.
 
yawn... as the author says, this has been going on for ages now.
i'm not really seeing the issue here.
give me some concrete examples of how it would violate my personal freedom.

What he said. Been reading about how Google collects information about your surfing habits everytime you use one of their applications. Perhaps one of the reasons I am staying with FireFox.

+1 ... never put anything up there unless you don't want the world to know about it.
 
It never fails to amaze me what folks upload to Farcebook - way too many details in my opinion. Always try to advise otherwise though...
 
Even more scary is the information ITC has on you. Logon to their website and register there for a "once-off" free report. These companies that keep phoning you on your cell, selling you insurance or the latest cellphone deal, claim to get your information from ITC.

The bottom line is - your information is online whether you like it or not. If you have filled in any forms for anything in your life, chances are someone would have captured information onto systems, and systems get compromised or sold.

If you want to become a true spook, sell all your material possessions, declare yourself dead, and go live on top of the Himalayas. Even then someone might come along in a helicopter trying to sell you airtime.

I recently cancelled all my applications, fans, etc. And have only one group left and that's the only one I'll live with.

Privacy settings also need to be checked every so often.

As for all the odds and sods who want to be my "friend" and I'll probably never ever again see in my life, well I'm happy to ignore them.
 
Omg this is terrible! Companies will find out what we like and will supply me with it! :( Someone from India will be able to see my name and profile picture! What has the world come to??

Honestly.. Unless your a pedophile and have "Children" under interests, your work address, list of people you've murdered on Aboute Me, shut up. So sick of reading this
