Only 25% not considering emigration? Ouch.

I am not going anywhere, there are no opportunities for me, as countries see individuals like myself differently. I can get a working VISA, but I can't get Citizenship. Regardless of the UN Conventions, many countries just don't allow people to become Citizens. But they never address on the bases of the situation, rather a technicality on work opportunities as these are limited and if you can't get work you are not going to get Citizenship.

There are a lot of technicalities regarding particular groups of people, and many of my friends had to come back after spending two years or more trying to get Citizenship.

Where can you get a work visa but not citizenship? I know that a few countries make this hard (e.g., UAE, China, Japan). Which countries are you referring to?

Japan accepts immigrants now, they have to due to the declining birth rate but requirements are very strict and being able to speak and write fluent Nihongo is a must. It's a hard language to learn so expect this to take years of hard study and the language is not really useful outside Japan.

It probably won't be everyones cup of tea though due to the work culture. Americans are often preferred due to perception and because many of them have a head start as their Unis offer Japanese.

Actually Canada, they allow you to get work no problem but because of my friend's and my own situation as we share the same situation when the Visa runs out they just don't renew it. Despite what people may think, it really is as simple as not renewing a work Visa and because the work was on temp terms they got to come home after two years.

My friends told me Canada is a really nice place with mostly nice people. They were very happy working there.

No point there really, other to say that the countries that are options seems to have been chosen at random without following any form of logic. Technically we can submit this thread to r/mapswithoutnewzealand as well. It's quite a popular destination for saffas as well.

About a year ago I was one of the "I will never leave this beautiful country, Africa is in my blood, I was born here and I will die here" crowd.

Now I am looking at getting the F**k out.

I was of the opinion that things could get better or at the very least just stay consistently ****, but it is just getting worse with no end in sight until complete ruin.

Me too. I would never have left if it kept on a semi stable direction. Not even first world, just a country with functioning essentials like electricity, water, sanitation and a reasonable judicial system.

Its not the country I love and remember anymore. So here I sit in Europe with resentment of what has happened to South Africa.

My stepdaughter and her family got permanent residence in Canada within a year of landing on a work visa.

I'm preparing my campervan to be totally self sufficient with solar and water (fill up every 10-14 days on water), and I will be travelling Africa. Finding diesel may be a challenge sometimes but at least it will be cheaper than in SA - and I can always camp until diesel is available again!

one of the dumbest responses in this thread thus far

It looks like you need either a permanent offer or you can apply for the various Canadian Experience based point systems.

I was talking about UK en Europe.

Since Brexit things have changed re. VISA requirements etc etc.

People to this day still ask...daily...if South Africans require a different VISA for the UK, or if they can travel to the UK without a VISA 'cos they have a EU residence card or if a Shengen Visa allows entry into the UK...etc etc.

Not sure what you're on about tbh.

You were saying that you need different visas for UK/EU. So I mentioned that if that was the reason for having seperate options, then they should really have included a seperate US/Canada option as those requirements are also different.
Then I just kinda went on a tangent around the list having no real structure or thought put into it.

Hehehehehe....

Easier to get a job once in country or before you go? So much analysis paralysis...
Asking since in SA it takes months, whereas most of my friends had jobs in the space of weeks in developed markets...
Some countries it's better to get a job before going.

Case in point The Netherlands.

If you get a job from the outside --> you get the 30% tax ruling
If you get a job from the inside --> you get squat
