The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Canada’s government seems to have warfare with anyone who disagrees with them. Some EU countries seem to be hellbent on eradicating their own farmers and starving their populations in the name of climate change.

The US wants to destroy the nuclear family. Australia and New Zealand have their own authoritarian issues.

I would rather stay here and be as self-sufficient as possible and know what to expect.

Funny, once you're there and earning their currency, the cost of living seems much more manageable than that of SA.

Only for high paying jobs, let's be honest. Would you live there on half your salary (single income) with a wife and two kids?

Im surprised more people are not willing to go to other african countries. Bad reputation i guess.

I hope people realize how much cost of living is in first world countries before going there.

For those interested in the map. Green means more bang for buck.
ZAR doesnt follow you when you leave. You forget about it as soon as you start earning in EURO / GBP etc.

I have worked in Namibia and Botswana and it is actually really nice. Would easily call both home if SA really goes for a spill

Other: NFI, honestly

also, UK is still part of Europe, the continent, so there are overlapping options

aside from that all continents apart from Antarctica are listed, meaning logically "other" can only mean "Antarctica" which is highly unlikely ... or another planet perhaps?

depends on your point of view mate, but yeah sweeping statements does help to keep those rose tinted glasses firmly in place. self sufficient is great and hats off to you, i don't love this place enough for my blood, or my childrens blood to soak the ground
what to expect? that's simple deterioration, poverty, desperation, death.
hope has left this place a long time ago

Some sound reasoning there…

Not disagreeing with you. People should always do this assessment before they go anywhere. For those in tech/finance/law, it’s pretty likely that it’s still a financial win, for those in skilled tech, it’s usually a no brainer.

Easier to get a job once in country or before you go? So much analysis paralysis...
Asking since in SA it takes months, whereas most of my friends had jobs in the space of weeks in developed markets...
