erm...we're not doing anything covert or illegal. Just going for a walk...cloak and dagger isn't necessary, Lion.

I sincerely hope that my employer gives us off on Friday, myself and a few members of our team were discussing it this morning and we want to take it up with him.

No. What is happening in this thread is not asking people to join you. What is happening is, people are being told, if you don't join you are not with us and thus deserve all the hardship that comes your way. **** that.

Just put in for leave myself. It's an investment into South Africa's future and I really do believe every single extra person there counts. See some of y'all in Pretoria!
 
So we got down rated to junk status because of the perception of political instability, as one of the main reasons I understood. Not specifically because our president axed a few ministers. So imagine this, go back to the last vote of confidence stint by the DA... Pigs start flying for real and the majority of parliament votes in favour of the lack of confidence vote. Then the president gets axed, which would naturally have a ripple effect on the rest of the cabinet with various reshuffles etc. Would that also be "perceived as political instability"? I'm guessing a big loud YES! So axing Zupta, in my warped opinion, is perhaps not going to have the "and they lived happily ever after" ending that so many think it will. Fire the president and see what that does for your country's credit rating...!

So I'm not marching. Not because of above view, but because I have work to do and bills to pay. No time for political shenanigans.

Has to get worse in the short term before it gets better in the long term. But I guarantee you a vote of no confidence wont work.

Yes it would be, correctly, perceived as political instability, but also the lesser of two evils.

Our rating will be junk for the time being, nothing can change that anymore. Do you prefer a junk rating with a negative outlook to further downgrades in future, or a junk rating with a positive outlook to remain junk and talk about upgrading the rating down the line?

Zuma staying put gets you the former, axing Zuma gets you the latter ...

You think everybody else doesn't have work too? I just put in for a day's leave, so hopefully you can consider doing that too.

Look at how the markets reacted to Jacob Zuma bringing Pravin back, after Nenegate. The markets were only too happy to see that our president was put into check by the public outcry and forced to change his decision. I don't see any great upset at his untimely demise (and it's a plaster we need to pull off sooner or later). Zuma has already said that he wants to change South Africa's Constitution to allow for land repossessions: do you really want to sit back and not play any part in efforts to object to him?

I wasn't suggesting that you were, or that it was necessary.
I was suggesting it for the sake of getting properly organised if you want to have a march the same size as S. Korea or Brazil.
It's about communication... not clandestine activities.
It helps though that the communications are secure and unmonitored.

And how would you keep it unmonitored? You want to get 100 000 people into a Whatsapp group, you think you're not going to have one Zuma sympathizer or policeman keeping an eye on what is said and sharing it widely? Once you go down that road for those reasons, you're on a path to madness.

Rubbish... everyone in this thread has been asking why can't we have protests like South Korea or Brazil... I'm just pointing out - that's how they did it.
In fact Brazil banned Whatsapp after the protests until one of their judges lifted the ban.
Facebook and mybroadband do not get the kind of exposure you need. If you want this to be HUUUGE then go huge.
