"I can't because my employer ......" (lunch time?)

That is exactly the reason why this country is in this cr@p. I guess the most of you were not in the old SADF? Did we then also say: "No use, this country is already down the drain. We are not going!"???

I trust that you can explain that to your children, grandchildren also why in the future!

I also accept the fact that none of you are religeous then either cause "What is the use..."!?

Why do they get away with everything?
Cause they stand together!

I say no because I will be forming a laager starting tomorrow apparently
 
Problem is, for small businesses each day staff have off costs a huge chunk of change in salaries and lost revenue and April is already horrendous due to the holidays. I'd be all for it if I thought it make one jot of difference, otherwise it's just a very wasteful exercise for us. If I had any indication that this would really be meaningful and cause some sort of change then 100% let's do it, but as it stands I don't see any indication of that. Prove me wrong.

I get that, but even 1 million people marching in London against the imminent Iraq invasion achieved precisely nothing. The kind of action you need to see change has to be on the scale of the Arab spring where pretty much every citizen took to the streets and stayed there indefinitely, which I can't see happening here.
 
I absolutely understand people who are unable to attend. Life is complicated, and we have many obligations.

Also, as much as it pains me to say this, as above, outside of a full-scale revolt, I don't see this having much effect. Our only real hope, I suspect, was the ANC not doing what they did today, the wimps.

garp, if it makes you feel better I put in for a day's leave, so my employer isn't losing any money out of my participation. Also nobody can prove anything to you, because nobody knows: if change was certain it'd already have happened. As it is, change is only something we can hope for, stand together and be a part of (in our own small way). Nobody can guarantee change through your personal participation, but I can guarantee that if we all stayed home the ANC will just continue with business as usual (as today's press statement from them confirms - with all Top 6 now back under Jacob Zuma's hammer).

Don't you understand that the change IS happening already? All the conversations like this one happening across South Africa. People making up their minds to take a stand, or engaging with those who are not. The march is the culmination of a week-long process: one that none of us will ever forget. It's about personal change, one heart and mind at a time. This is not about having the ANC look out from their ivory towers and all fall down in tears, but just maybe to stir some real national unity around something bigger than rugby or boerewors.
