That was quick though, didn't think we'd reach the "if you don't emigrate you're stupid" this fast

If you don't know your history you're stupid. And history tells us this: every single African country, without exception, ends up becoming an economic disaster zone at best and a warzone at worst.

Your misplaced patriotism isn't going to change history, except maybe for you and your family.

So seeing that it is taking too long to get to that disaster or warzone we should go on and help it along? Some kind of self fulfilling prophecy that.

Not really, we've seen the same sort of attitude when it comes to voting. Bitch and moan about things online, but sit and do nothing when an opportunity presents itself...

Actually I feel very strongly about the voting thing and will do my utmost to do the one thing that CAN actually make a difference.
But this protest thing seems sloppy and unorganised to me with no clear goals or strategy.
There is too much chance for stuff to go wrong.
And too many other elements waiting to hijack this protest for their own ends.

I won't. It's cold and icy outside and if I do decide to take the day off to protest my boss will probably fire my ass and send me back to SA. :o

If you want to bail water out of a boat that is clearly going to sink, be my guest. I'd much rather leave the ship before it goes down and takes me with it.

Borrowed from a friend: Yes, the President has grossly abused his power and persistently acted irresponsibly toward those whom he is to be leading. He should be removed. That message will not be effectively conveyed by us acting irresponsibly toward the employees, students and children we are to be leading on Friday. The first weapon against irresponsible leadership in government is responsible leadership in our homes and businesses. Further, #Stayawayfriday will only do more harm to the economy by the lack of production/trade. It is like protesting a clogged bathtub by breaking off the shower head. You have the right to do so, but it lacks effectiveness. And you are creating an environment where citizens learn that they can get their way by staying away from their responsibilities. We need more people to be responsible and steadfast. We need more hard workers and law-abiding citizens. We already have enough criminals. Don't unwittingly become one of them by thinking you are doing good. Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.

Jeeesus christ, what a soppy load of twiddly twat. I wonder if this guy sobs when he burns his tongue on a coffee while his wife dresses him.
Does this guy even remotely understand how democracy (and reality) works?
Some people really just need a good wake up p**sklap now and then.

In my heart of hearts I'm with you but unfortunately there are plenty of people for whom leaving is not an option.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's just gonna do what he thinks best anyway. He has students to teach. He's not gonna let the ones who want to learn down.
And you have provided absolutely nothing by way of alternative. Not surprisingly.

I actually agree more with this than being a protestor. And for the cr@pstorm comments like: This is how democracy works etc... It's not, this is how to get what you want by being a irresponsible, unproductive twat. I don't condone protests.

Having said that. Desperate times might call for desperate measures. I can't call myself responsible if there is even the slightest chance of getting rid of the parasitic entities eating away at our lively hoods and staying away from it. Considering the utter lack of reward or even appreciation for loyalty, maybe in this one instance fighting disease with poison is worth the effort just like you fight cancer.

This is exactly my question Baxteen, I get off my behind, step away from my keyboard and fight for.........what? If Zuma goes, then what? Will Pravin be reinstated, will junk status be revoked?
He still has some time to sell off the country. The aim is to reduce the time he has so it can be reversed

Again, if insults are what you need to bring across your points, you're probably doing it wrong. I'm not ignorant or stupid, I just came to a different decision to you given the information I had at the time.
