There were way, way more than that. It was like crowds pouring out of Cape Town Stadium after a big game.

Today was a great day in the fact that it was the first time we managed to mass mobilize people from across all spectrums to gather and march. At the same time, while in jhb CBC after the march waiting for an uber, I got to see the less hopeful side of things when myself and a colleague were threatened by 3 guys with knobkierries and spears to "f#ck off back to Europe, we don't need u here, f#ck off". Luckily a security guard intervened and they walked off.

Sad part is they are the majority. Totally clueless and brainwashed. It's them that the despot in Zuma relies on.

A lot of the crowd was black. Last video uploading, 15 minutes. Totally not worth the wait, but I am doing it anyways.

Seriously, if the enemy others all whites, we're no better than them if we other the enemy with broad strokes. 'The majority' is not 'clueless and brainwashed' - even in Just_Ice's story, they just finished a march with thousands of black people protesting against Zuma and were confronted by 3 guys. Do the maths on that. Even the bigger attempted ANCYL raid on the DA march was "only" 100 people, and they were pushed back by the police. Today we've had over 50 000 people nationally taking part in these marches (a LOT more most likely - but how does one count everybody in a little picket on a random street corner), and most of them weren't white. You're right that Zuma's supporters are what he relies on, but he and the ANC are over-extending themselves: their radical supporters are in the minority and the majority are turning against them steadily.

I'm not a fundamentalist religious person but I've always liked this verse which is appropriate:

Well, I got to the protest at about 12h30, used the MyCiti (would post pics of protestors on the side, but won't due to friends being on it). I had quite a group of guys tag along to Adderly and from there we headed towards Parliament.

After a while we followed some people back towards city hall. We were at the front of that crowd piece.



Some people started chanting, at one point everyone sang the anthem (apologies about my phone, the wind was quite strong and it drowned out the crowd a bit.)

Was quite nice, then even more people showed up heading towards Adderley.

Then we got to the corner at Adderley, spent a while there.


I got a bit bored and circled round to Parliament following Adderley street. Had a lunch brake at parliament for ~15 min and then headed down the road towards the protesters, but they were coming towards us.

We then had a nice and peaceful walk back to Civic Center, I stopped and had a coffee break for an hour before heading home.
