Hi there,

Hopefully someone can help me. I have some experience with vmware.. But I want to get certified, how do I go about getting this certification? Do I need to take the VCP 4 first? What are the prerequisites? I thought it would be like Microsoft certs just book and go write?

Just take the VCP5 course and sit the exam.

The course is a prerequisite to sit the exam.

yes and the exam is a bit harder than most of the MS exams so make sure you get some good
book work in as well as mess about with the labs, oh and check for questions online they do help
allot.

A bit of a naive question on my part. But is it worth getting Certified?

Yes, but only if you can walk the walk.
In my opinion certifications, regardless of the vendor, is worth the while, but by no means an indication of competence or proficiency.

Ok yes then I agree with you, do u have any ideas as to how the Supply/Demand is with VMare certified people in SA?

There is definitely a demand for the skills, however, I think on a more holistic scale, i.e. not just a virtualization specialist, but someone who understand virtualization, storage, and networking, who is able to fully grasp the concepts of IaaS.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, employers don't want button pushers, they want experts, and that very often means extending your reach to not only a product, but a technology as a whole.
