How did they know about the R40000?
It was either a staffer, or even worse - a parent.
Staffer. How did parents know how many kids, how much collected, where money was kept on what day.
To the robbers - execute.

Thank you. *sigh*People Garankuwa is not a some rural village with no power. It is a town just like Pretoria. There are banks electricity and even running water.
// Shock horror!!!!
*Sigh* so you are basically saying people in townships don't have access to banks?
No, I'm saying sometimes its an inconvenience to go all the way to the bank - while the creche is within walking distance.
BTW I live in a township
Do you have internet banking?

What happened to cellphone banking and e-wallets? Last i fiddled with this, it was made for exactly this sort of scenario, sending money via airtime/phone to each others e-wallets , it doesn't even need internet, works via USSD . The final recipient can then go to the bank and withdraw/transfer it.....
...we always hear how cellphones are everywhere and i bet everyone in a township got one, yet then they don't use it?
The news article refers to a cash robbery - hence my argument towards cash/bank deposits

CAers gonna CA.
Unless you've lived in a township with no car for a long time (several months to years) you may have a hard time understanding how things are for someone living there.
And then the banks rob them with outrageous fee...
#robbedeitherway
clearly they dont use it at this creche - eitherwise we wouldn't be reading this in the news or even having this conversation
Insane! I hope they catch the guys. Someone always knows something. Its very hard to hide stolen money (spending habits always give you away)
