True, but there was a very efficient system that ensured you got what was needed. You were not dumped in a foreign base without any support systems/logistical support. The current SANDF is circus with guns.

I can CONFIRM that. :eek:

Not being racist or anything, so excuse me:

Our intake had to do a swimming test. I thought cool, it kinda hot anyway (37 degrees). We had to go one-by-one, and swim the length of the pool and back again, with two divers in the pool to check technique etc.

When you got out you were told to stand one one of two sides of the pool. Fine.

By the end of the 3 hours, there were 63 guys on one side and 720 something guys on the other. :eek:

Suffice to say, myself and 62 guys spent most of the time playing water polo, while the others learnt to swim with coke bottles etc.

So yes, it is true, MOST cannot even swim. You think that's a joke, you should have been there at the shooting range... :D
