Article: Affirmative action reasonable?

Trade union Solidarity on Wednesday said it had won its eighth affirmative action case against the SA Police Service and government in the Labour Court.

"In terms of a ruling [on Tuesday], two white police members, Emil and Martha Oosthuizen, must be appointed retrospectively in accordance with a settlement reached between Solidarity and the SAPS," spokesman Dirk Hermann said in a statement.
 
So , we actually had two decent fingerprint forensic detectives and we told them to piss off? When we have a massive shortage that can employ anyone with the skills regardless of race?

Yes , AA , intelligence at it's best.
 
discriminating against somebody because of the colour of their skin is never reasonable.
 
It is reasonable considering the lack of education they got but the implementation is poor and they should consider that the newer generation is coming through and can compete on the same level now so amend it.

There is nothing inherently wrong with affirmative action in principle, but the specific implementation has to be carefully considered and it is not something that can be done in isolation. It would probably also need to operate for a minimum of two generations, but obviously is not something that should exist in perpetuity.

It's not reasonable when you have two people that can do a job and denied that and the job stands vacant. That is stupidity.
 
Affirmative Action, BEE and BBBEE are not a joke but are components of the big bomb that will wipe South Africa as a functioning country off the map; and the bomb is ticking.
