Article: ANC concerned about Woolworths pig head protest

The ANC on Friday expressed concern at the action by Cosas members who placed a pig's head in the meat section of a Woolworths store in protest against trade relations with Israel

"The placing of pigs' heads, in violation of the religious beliefs of certain sections of our population, is misguided and extremely unfortunate," ANC deputy secretary general Jessie Duarte said in a statement.
 
The only pigs the ANC is worried about are the ones pushing and shoving at the feeding trough.
 
I'm pleased they have responded but it took them a long time - a whole week

It is ridiculous to target all jewish people in this way in any situation, and perhaps more so when there are many fine people within that community who are outspoken in their opposition of the illegal occupation of Palestine
 
Because pigs heads are a LOT more offensive than bombs in a civilian restaurant or bar.

A large majority of Muslims don't shop at Woolworths anymore, so I don't think it affected them that much. And in case, most Muslims also don't buy their meats from chain stores, but from privately-owned community butcher shops.

What irks me the most about this though, is the huge outcry from MyBB forumites about the pigs head, but they either say nothing when innocent palestinians are slaughtered, or make jokes about taking alcohol and bacon to Muslim/Halaal restuarants just to make a statement. At that point, offending another religion doesn't matter. These same people also don't get why cartoons of Prophet Muhammad are offensive, but cry about a pigs head being offensive.

The world is filled with hypocrites.

NB: I don't condone the act of placing a pigs head in Woolies. There are other more effective ways of making a statement, but I do understand their message, and think that it has worked.

^^ I am not surprised at this boycott, been in this country for quite a while and I have seen how your cult provides a passive resistance to "others" in various work places, especially if they are not "friends" to one of you guys. Boy, you "brothers" know how to play with non-brothers in workplace. It is very subtle and absolutely clever that it is not shown openly but I know it, especially as I come from long stay of 25+ years in Indian sub-continent.

That sentence makes one almost believe they actually care about anyone but themselves & their own world-view.

Place pigs head in shop protesting Israel. Drives all Muslims away.
