Article: ANC Take Johannesburg

The African National Congress won control of the Johannesburg Metro receiving more than 1.2 million votes, the Independent Electoral Confirmed early on Friday.

According to the final results released the ANC received 1,272,354 votes and as a result secured a total of 153 seats out of a total of 260 seats.

More and more wards I think did fall to the DA....

But its those stats that we will see when everything is finalised...

As I said before, we deserve the screwed up roads, billing issues, lack of service delivery and whatever else is going on in JHB. I am disgusted that so many people did not bother to go and vote  The people living in shacks also deserve what they have

I agree with you Marine. They will get what they voted for. Not long and we will see service delivery protests by the same people that voted for the ANC....BUT....I think we have good reason to be proud of the DA!!!! Yes, they did not get hold of a major Metro like we hoped....but they gained major support! Take PE for example. Last time they got 16% or something....now they got something like 40%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is nothing but fcking fantastic growth!!!!!!!!!!

NEXT TIME BOYS........NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should hear the excuses idiots here at work come up with for not voting... its disgusting...they are also the first to complain.... thank God we still got Cape Town without there pathetic help, would love to send them packing.

Same thing here - and they are all "white" as well.

Kakked one guy out this morning but it still doesn't sink in.

Thats what grates me - its the whites bloody complaining - and they don't vote.

If you look at the black folk, they go and queue in ****ty conditions, in queues over a kilometer long.

Yeah my ward is almost 90% DA :) Whenever I hear people bitching about the ANC / Government / Taxes the first question I ask is whether they voted. If not then STFU, no arguing, excuses or further discussion to be had. Regarding service delivery protests I will save copy of the election results and should that area have voted overwhelmingly for the ANC again then balls to them. It's time the electorate grew up and realised you get what you vote for :)

+1. It grates me to no end. Of all the people and friends that I know that voted, I know of at least double that amount that didn't.

Every black person I've spoken to the last week didn't vote. They don't like the government.. So WTH don't you vote for a different government then?!

every one i spoke to voted DA, and were very sad i didn't vote, assuming i would have voted DA :)

So many people at the office didn't vote!

Our tea lady told the boss they should have worked on the 18th!

Agreed, they are the first to bitch and moan but come election time "there is no point".
Regardless, I'm dissapointed the ANC managed above 60% but by next elections, I see the numbers dropping once again, slow but gradual change!

The DA have gained major ground - especially in the Western Cape - taking almost the entire province. They are now stronger than ever. They've made big gains elsewhere in the country as well.

Next time they might grab JHB or PTA!
