agreed, no more feeling sorry for the homeless on the streets, and the unemployed, and those sh.tting in a bucket, and those that don't have access to clinics etc.

Keep suffering and dying under your "leaders" you get what you vote for. Maybe in another 4 years your eyes will go open, i think 21 years is enough...
 
These bloody beggars must ask for hand-outs again today! No more Mr Nice Guy (or is that Mrs Nice Gal) ;)
 
Same here none of our cleaning personnel voted. They said they have been voting since 1994 and this year wouldn't vote as they get nothing just promises.

Some of them asked if they could work on Wednesday.

first of all, you assume everyone who is homeless, unemployed and ****ting in a bucket is an ANC supporter. you don't know who they vote for, all my black friends and acquaintances voted DA apparently, as i've been getting lectures on why i should vote from all of them, and why they're going to lose now.

also, you've highlighted the flaw of democracy. i could be suffering, dying, and mistreated, but my vote means **** all when there are 10 people who don't have my interest at heart voting alongside me.

seriously guys, get another soapbox. whinging about the winning party is not going to change anything whether you voted or not
 
I heard a story from a colleague: The gardener told his mother that he doesn't like the DA. She asked why, he told her that if the DA wins they will kick the blacks out of the country, and this is what they tell them in the townships!

Next time they must work more on KZN and get more votes to DA to make me happy and so I don't have to have ANC working in my municapality and breaking the electricity every 2 or 3 days and especially hilton which has electricity for 1 or 2 days a week.

Well, to be fair it's very apparent that the bulk of ANC voters are indeed uneducated. Sure, there are the fatcat supporters who need the ANC gravy supply but I'd love to see the percentage of poor uneducated people who voted DA. That is, afterall, how the ANC likes 'em. My guestimate is a resounding f0kall.

well, in a proper society, i will agree with you, but do you really expect me to believe these people didn't vote anc?

so some of the poorest areas in the country have 80+ % ANC support... [in this election], so at least 8/10 of them are voting ANC.

Actually, the opposition structures are either non existent or very poor in the poor rural areas. Most rural municipalities in the Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, will always vote for the ANC because there is no other party that is active in the area. The opposition parties tend to focus too much of their campaigns in the metros. Unfortunately that's the most stubborn ANC support to convert. Such people don't really need free ANC houses -they have jobs, pay for their own electricity and water and could not be bothered whether the ANC delivers or not. A lesson to the DA and others is to focus more in the rural areas and outlying areas that are forever plagued by service delivery protests - those are already vulnerable voters and could easily be swayed to the opposition.

of course, but i know some guys in some very hard conditions who are staunch DA supporters, and your comment made me think of them. i dislike the ANC thoroughly, but the DA isn't much better in my opinion when it comes to helping people like my friends

i already know the outcome and i don't agree with politics. if you want to improve the country it's not going to help making up snappy rhetorical questions or getting your circle of 13 friends to come and vote with you, you have to change the people who are voting for the opposition's mind.

personally if i am ever forced to vote I WILL vote for the ANC, being my choice to benefit the country and all that :p nobody grasps the real problem, you're never going to outnumber the ANC voters. telling people to shut up and not complain if they don't vote(i don't complain in any case :p ) means nothing either, the ANC is still in charge, you still wasted another 4 years

many people also vote for the DA because they're the main opposition, not necessarily because they agree with their goals or message. people may want to vote for a smaller party because it agrees with heir ideals perfectly, but then they would agree that that is a waste of a vote and that no change would come about, so they vote for the party that has a chance of winning. to many people it's not about getting their party to win, it's about making sure the ANC loses, and that is where this mentality comes from that if we don't we must shut up, because if we're not with you we're against you :p

democracy is about voting who you think is the best candidate. if you don't agree with my vote, it's my vote and it doesn't matter what you think. getting people to vote and then telling them who to vote for defeats the objective of a democracy in my opinion.

i'd like to see the DA win, because they're an underdog, but that is the only reason. i'm not supporting them or encouraging them in any way.
 
By not voting - you are effectively saying you are happy with the status quo -
