Zondo (19), a MK cadre and member of the ANC Youth League, had the bomb activated in the centre on 23 December 1985 at 11:00. Irma Bencini (48), Anna Shearer (43), and three children with the ages of two, eight and sixteen were killed and more than 40 injured. The local municipality of Amanzimtoti however this year went ahead renaming Kingsway to Andrew Zondo Street, in spite of the public outcry against this renaming. The ANCYL has however demanded that not only Kingsway Street, but the whole of Amanzimtoti should be renamed after Zondo.

This has pretty much been the response to the Peter Mokaba stadium (some youth league idiot who sang the same tune as Malema!)
