Is this still going on? What a waste of time.
You may think so - but Apple and Samsung don't. Samsung has blatantly copied (almost) everything Apple did. Apple brought out a gold iPhone. How did Samsung response? By brining out a gold S4 a few weeks later.
Samsung need to start doing their own **** and stop watching what others are doing and just coping that. That isn;t to say Apple are without fault either.

Newsflash, they all copied from each other. Nothing is original anymore in this industry, it hasn't been for years.
If you think you are getting something original, then you are one of Apple's prize customers.

The patent system is broken an crushes any kind of business. You cannot own an idea.
Originality stems from trying to OUT DO your competitor, not by removing any means of competing
Hmmm, from that I do see your point.
I can understand copyrighting names, logos and adverts, but pretty much anything else is restricted to the laws of physics, time and space. Apple patented a rectangle when it came to tablets - almost every piece of technology that has come out since the 90s has been rectangular. phones, PC boxes, tablets, laptops, tvs, etc.
as nobody is going to use a circular or triangular tablet, that leaves very little room in space of development of people creating competing tablets
Now you've done it! An alarm just sounded on each and every one of JStrike's plethora of idevices. Expect some iwrath shortly.

Excuse me, it was the round-cornered rectangle that they patented. Totally different kettle of fish.
You're right. That must have been the reason Samsung did it now. And of course, HTC brought out a real gold phone (with a back-facing fingerprint scanner) so they definitely weren't looking at Apple even a bit.
