Article: Beached whales will be put to death

Some of the pilot whales that beached at Noordhoek Beach on Sunday morning will be put to death, the National Sea Rescue Institute said.

"Seven are in poor health. We are still trying our best to save them but those that can't be saved will be humanely euthanased," said NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon.

When I was a kid there was a huge whale in the King's Beach area, it was massive, and being chopped apart with pangas.

Somehow, that imagery has stuck with me my whole life.

Not long ago that happened to a beached dead whale over here, the guys were chopping it up with pangas and taking it home, the stench was revolting

Why are Sea Rescue getting involved? It's not their mandate.Funds raised as donations from the public are supposed to go towards saving human lives at sea and upgrading facilities no?

So sad to see the hippies and wannabe hippies prolonging their deaths. They came to die. Rather ironic that the "savers" are probably the same types who mouth off about human interference with the environment, yet they don't scruple when it suits their agenda.

Another thing: you can't "euthanize" an animal. This term is properly applied only to people.

Wiki is not an authority, sorry. I know because I'm a Wikipedia editor, and I can add anything I wish, more or less.

"Gender" is another word widely abused. Until very recently it couldn't legitimately be applied to people, but largely for PC reasons it has become almost universal.
