Article: BEE cannot speed up economic growth: Solidarity

Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) cannot speed up economic growth as it favours the politically connected, Solidarity said on Monday.

"According to the true measure of wealth -- access to goods and services -- almost all South Africans, including black people, are poorer thanks to BEE," said Piet le Roux, researcher at the Solidarity Research Institute (SRI).

And all the cronies at the top will say.is 'your name is Piet le Roux - your argument is invalid'.

If BEE was implemented correctly from the start then we would of been a true emerging global financial power

No, we wouldn't be a true emerging global financial power. You need a solid education system and good business environment - we have neither.

If BEE was implemented correctly it would be implemented from the education level up

Good observation, pity nothing will change the masses are too ignorant to know exactly how they were duped by the ANC elite.

This makes no sense...

So blacks need to own education centers.. or be majority steak holders... and employ a certain number of black people... or pass on teaching skills to black teachers?

I don't see how our education system would make children smarter like this.

It's lunchtime. I wouldn't mind being a steak holder right about now.

BEE as a concept is wonderful. As a law or policy is just stupid. At best it is a zero sum game. Take wealth from one group and give it to another adds no value. In fact, it is more likely to remove value.

It is also something that shouldn't be 'implemented'. It should be as a result of overall upliftment.

By providing a quality education to the previously disadvantaged.

It should be on par with White kids, not better not worse. BEE at education level would just be bringing everybody on par and when you go to the job sector your chance should be 100% equal to your equal counter part and not based on skin colour.

How were "they" disadvantaged?

Did they have any education whatsoever before white people got here?
No they did not.
So no disadvantage there.

They are getting one now thanks to white people, so they should be called "advantaged", or "blessed", or "ungrateful".

The children are not classified as previously disadvantaged to my understanding. You may only qualify for the disadvantage card if you were alive pre-1994. Children today do no qualify (which means filling BEE quotas will get harder and harder as time goes by)

no. if the parent of the children stayed in South Africa before 1994, then qualified.
