A BMW driver was arrested for travelling at 206 kilometres an hour, Johannesburg metro police said on Monday.
"He was going home after being at a club," said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.
The driver was one of 12 motorists arrested for speeding on the N1 in Midrand over the weekend.
Another driver was arrested for driving with false number plates on a BMW car.
All those arrested would appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court shortly.
I hope he was not pissed

I agree, was no one stabbed to death or mauled to a bloody pulp from overseas this weekend? This is hardly newsworthy imho...

i dig speed, but this not very clever considering the roadworks.

Or the wet spot that was him on the highway. Yay for irresponsible idiots putting the lives of my family in danger for the sake of a thrill!
+1 ...whilst it would be okay if he wanted to be an idiot and write himself off, it's definitely not okay if he happens to you or me or family or friends out with him. A hefty fine is just not enough of a message for that sort of reckless and negligent behaviour. There ought to be a significant amount of time in community service slap on the driver too ... preferably in the morgue or somewhere where maybe, just maybe, he'll learn a lesson or two.
