Cabinet has expressed concern at the escalation of food prices and the impact it is having on the poor.

According to a Cabinet statement, issued by Government Communications (GCIS) on Friday, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tina Joemat-Pettersson will brief Cabinet on the matter at the next Cabinet meeting.

Stop taking away productive farms and giving them to people who know nothing about farming... That will be a good start.
 
And stop over taxing road transport and fuel...
And stop approving Eskom's absurb price increases....

And stop damn corruption among the Fat Cats

In short, If you stop being GREEDY, you might be able to solve some of this country's problems you dumbasses
 
It's a real concern and not isolated to SA. Yes, we have certain contributing factors from our imbecilic government, but can we not try to keep this thread going without turning into an ANC-bashing contest again? We know that they are useless, corrupt and made up mostly of thieves at the upper echelons...
 
IMO There are to many people on earth contesting for his piece of meat,bread etc. Demand getting higher= higher prices. I think the price of meat is going to go through the roof in the coming years..

I wonder how much food actually gets thrown away. Those with means produce much more than needed and lots of it goes to waste.

Thats not impacting our food supply at all. Increased food pricing is coming from increased electric and fuel pricing. Also, the fact that we have a useless rail network also adds significant costs.

Fuel Taxes
Company Tax
Labour Laws, etc....

These are all ways in which this corrupt ANC government has made it difficult for businesses to keep costs down.
Why don't they do their part and make it easier for businesses instead of harder?

The ANC excel at stating the blatantly obvious, non starters at fixing anything though.

The people of this country really deserve a more credible government. This lot are just a bunch of leeching clowns.
 
It is just a vote-gathering exercise. The whole food story cannot be fixed by one operation. It starts at the farmer, then the expensive distribution, storage, more distribution. Then, a good deal of food gets thrown away, often when there is nothing wrong with it. The "best-by" dates on food are to blame for this
