If only...

Strangely, I'm looking forward to a dark, quiet evening with only the candles and the Kindle app on my phone for company <3

But let one of these blackouts result in fried hardware and there will be Hell to pay.

Tell you what Eskom... give me solar heating + SMEG 6 burner stove and we can talk.

Eskom FYI I have drastically reduced my electricity consumption and started paying drastically more for your incompetence. Now ****.

This is rich coming from a company that grew revenue by R63.9-billion and made a tidy R12.8-billion profit in the last quarter of 2011. [1] The same company that upped it's executive member's salaries by a whopping 109% in 2011. [2]

And now that it is time for another electricity price hike, they going to stage blackouts 'load shed' again to strike fear into us and screw us out of pocket even more.

Eskom isn't parastatal, it's a PARASITE! ... and it's killing our country's growth!

They have become pretty transparent with their plans and requests recently, they are doing maintenance and this will increase the load on the reticulation so unless they enforce load limiting the only option before that is to ask nicely for everyone to reduce power levels.

A lot of people can't save any more electricity except by switching the lights and TV off and sitting in the dark.
Solar geyser, CFL or LED lighting and a laptop with Internet access.

My consumption is under 200W at night and you want me to cut down on my electricity consumption?!
I cannot wait until the electricity tariffs make going completely off grid financially viable ...

Luckily Pretoria wasn't hit hard by load-shedding the last time around.

Hmmmm so we can produce roughly 30-35000MW of power at any given time.. and we need to shave off 10% of that....

What exactly is the residential total usage at any given time... I wouldn't expect it to be much more than 20 - 25% of the total used.... so we must all halve the amount of power we use because you can be damn sure that the major industrials aren't going to...
