Article: Eugene Terre'Blanche heritage site proposal rejected

A proposal to turn murdered AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche's home in Ventersdorp into a heritage site was rejected at a meeting of the North West heritage council, the Sowetan reported on Monday.

The proposal was announced by heritage council leader Themba Gwabeni, who said Terre'Blanche and his party were part of South Africa's history.

I agree with Themba though, but our leaders does not value history. OR they value it only when they can loot tax payers money in the process.

Everybody had the right to celebrate their heritage, including the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB).

The SA Communist Party in the province said this was insulting and Terre'Blanche was not a hero.

Interesting, that it was proposed by the heritage council leader. In my opinion the AWB do by no means deserve any heritage as it was a split group which created a paramilitary organisation, the rest most people know or are generally acquainted with. This is exactly why Nazi Germany isn’t regarded as German heritage, some remembrance they kept was the concentration camps (e.g. Auschwitz-Birkenau) as a message to never repeat the past. There is absolutely nothing to the AWB to remember them by.

Please help me to understand this. Was the proposal just announced by Themba Gwabeni (a black person) or was it also endorsed by Themba Gwabeni?

Personally I wouldn't want ET place to be a heritage site. He was a fool.

I expect and can understand that some black people would be gracious ... but not council members. They are in a totally different racial group.

It's a shame, I would've been glad to see my tax money go to the erection of a statue of him falling off his horse.

Why will Orania promote the AWB? Kleinfontein, yes.
 
Typical the biggest terrorist of them all get's statues erected all over and becomes a "god", but don't even think of having your own hero ( heritage ) cause hey this goes only one way.. .lol!

Not a good idea

ET was a damn good speaker one must say....I always found his speeches very entertaining....on the day it was a highlight.

Are you referring to ET ? Well that's up to his fans, what I am saying is that in SA everyone else has the right to have their hero's, culture and heritage and it does not matter what this hero did they are forgiven because of the circumstances, but God forbid that some white person gets credit or recognition for anything.
