Article: Farm attacks are not racially motivated: ISS

Nope, that is in all the crime reports.

Could you link that please. As farm attacks are classed as normal attacks in most reports, so Im curious to see what kinda reports these are.

Details in all crime reports in newspapers every day. Nothing special.

Okay, I dont get a newspaper with that. So could you link your stats? Or are you basing your opinion on only what sells newspapers?

Cause a story where someone is tortured is more likely to make a newspaper then a story where they ran off with the bakkie and no one was hurt.

Because its not just to steal, yes it may be a factor but its a hate crime as well.
Sorry dont buy it, if there is some form of personal interaction like torture then its a hate crime

Don't get me wrong I agree, I just put the question out there to hear what the response would be from those that says its not.

He said racial insults were sometimes used during such crimes, but this did not mean race or politics were the motives of such attacks.

Well it doesn't mean that these are not motives either then. At least SOME of the time, right? I mean, if racial insults were used during these crimes in some circumstances, could that (amongst other things like torture or waiting for the victims to return) not possibly point to a racial motive for the crime? No, of course not! :wtf:

Did they go and interview every suspect caught for this type of crime to arrive at this seemingly clear-cut conclusion? If they had said that not ALL farm attacks are racially motivated then sure, but just "farm attacks are not racially motivated"? Pfft. Ok, well that solves that then.

They may not necessarily be MOTIVATED by race, but they can definitely be AGGRAVATED by racial motives.

I think that may be something.

So much false information around farm murders so its really hard to understand the exact motives.

I think the bottom line is that when there are no close neighbours and there is fear and other tensions that make the farm attack a very different animal to the normal home invasion.

Girls in cities in the USA are taught to scream "fire" when they are getting attacked as apparently more people respond to cries of fire than cries of rape. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just_Yell_Fire

An attack is an attack and no matter where you are, you can often be left alone with your attacker.

A very small amount of these farm attacks are racially motivated. Do I think that racism aggravates a lot of them into being more violent? No. I think when sick people commit a crime they will use whatever means they want to dominate their victims.

Can someone explain then why do they torture the victims?

To mentally and emotionally dominate their victims as they are sick people who most likely get a kick out of doing sick ****. There are far more black victims in day to day crime who are tortured than us white folk. You often read about how rape victims are tortured.

I don't think that vehicle theft gets classified as a farm attack.

Well nothing is technically classified as a farm attack. An attack is an attack. If a guy is held at gun point, tied up and roughed up and they make off with his bakkie, it falls into the same category.

Sure.

The National Operational Co-ordinating Committee (NOCOC) (South African Police Service (SAPS) 2003a:16) defines farm attacks as:

“Attacks on farms and smallholdings refer to acts aimed at the person of residents, workers and visitors to farms and smallholdings, whether with the intent to murder, rape, rob or inflict bodily harm. In addition, all actions aimed at disrupting farming activities as a commercial concern, whether for motives related to ideology, labour disputes, land issues, revenge, grievances, racist concerns or intimidation, should be included.”

Yet, as indicated by SAPS (2003a:16) there is no such “specific” crime as farm attacks.

Read the papers ? Really trying hard to be a dunce, aren't you ?

Show me an article or any research that shows they torture people "often just for fun"?

Really trying hard to be a dunce, aren't you?
